Obviously DHL is setting this up the timing so that the transfer can be complete before the holiday rush. My guess is that the deal is already done.

Doesn't the CMI agreement between ABX and DHL for many more planes end early next year? I think it's safe to assume that whoever gets these 4 will also be in line to get the next 20.
My understanding is the CMI agreement goes until March 2015. I am not sure about when the agreement on the CAM/ ABX airplanes goes to.

K4 going after the lucrative DHL flying, eh? Just the 767's or the 737's also?

Just heard that the EXCOs from ABX, Atlas, Kalitta and Southern have signed a letter saying they will not undercut each other. What will that mean when the company bids on and wins the flying for the four 767s? Not to mention 13 more next year.

I'm guessing it will mean nothing.

It means not accepting terrible payrates. ABX and atlas already have 767 payrates. Kalitta can only bring on the 767 at current 747 rates. Which leaves us with Southern who can theoretically undercut. This letter was all about southern, and to some extent Kalitta if mgmt approaches the pilot group to negotiate rates

Southern "theoretically" undercutting? Where was this letter during all your 737 bidding?

Bingo. The impetus for the letter. Unfortunately the only other bidder was northernn air cargo and they have even worse 737 rates

Got a real good laugh from this one this morning. What makes you think that the EXCO has anything to do with negotiations of pay rate for aircraft to DHL? I am pretty sure that is a management decision.

It looks like Atlas or Southern could do this flying at a lesser crew cost than ABX without having to agree to wage concessions. What I wonder is, will the ABX pilots agree to contract concessions to keep the flying in house? If they adjust their hourly rates down to reflect their lower-cost competition without going below those rates, can they be said to be undercutting those other airlines?

The Exco has a lot of pull on this. The only exco that does not is Kalitta because Kalitta can contractually bring on the 76 at current 74 pay rates. The rest of the carriers have to negotiate pay rates first, hence why the Exco can say no. ABX management approached the ABX exco with the 737 proposal and the rates were such a joke that they turned it down. Southern exco accepted their current 737 pay scale, and we recognize we needed changes going forward to make sure were not undercutting each other. Im not placing any blame on southern, this was a new thing for local 1224, so we have since shored up this problem.
