I was offered a CJO pending the results of my drug test. So yes they can offer you a job prior.

That I agree with. What I take exception with is the statement that if you don't hear right then you were not hired. Patently untrue.

Congrats and welcome!

As a completely new 121 pilot (135 my whole career) with the biggest aircraft I've flown being a Brasilia, is there anything I can pick up or study to get ahead of the curve?

Default Pre-class prep

With your background VNAV is going to kick your but. Start studying VNAV theory.

VNAV is not that complicated. Its the way our training department teaches it.
Our training department needs to hire some Boeing instructors to teach our instructors how to teach VNAV.

They send the disk for the manuals well before you go. I would highly recommend getting into reading ALL of them. If you have read most all of it before you arrive, you will have a serious leg up.

Also...

Kalitta Training

Go to that site, click on the top training option, click on the aircraft you will be training for... and there is a lot of information to learn there, including practice versions of the CBTs...

How about we cut this guy a little slack, he is trying to reach out for some guidance on how to proceed.

Learning VNav can be an issue, but generally speaking it is more of a problem with the “old” guys. We have some outstanding instructors currently working in our training department and they can facilitate a smooth transition. Approach the training with an open mind and a willingness to absorb a lot of information in a relatively short period of time. I would recommend you make time to pre-study the material prior to attending your first day in class, but I would not stress over learning VNav.

Good luck, I’m sure you will do great.

There are 2 classes set for October, 6th and one at the end then a December class. It's not so much as getting guy's through class it's getting OE done on line where it's bottle necking.

But as mentioned, tell them you will take any class as long as you can give 2 weeks to your current employer. I flew with a new FO who told his company that he would be leaving, just didn't know when, he was able to leave on 4 days notice with the heads up he gave (also 135).

Best of luck to all the Kalitta Pilots today!

Hope the NMB is finally sick of Connie and his management team wasting time and making them look like azzes!

Time for a new contract!
