Since the new contract attrition has all but stopped. Few leaving but not like it was 12 months ago.

Talking to a senior school house type and they have planned a new hire class every month until November for 12 new hires in each (120 planned NH for the year).

Lost one POS ex Centurion 744F (rumored Atlas bought it) but not sorry to see it go. Some more 744F's in the pipeline and more 76's 2 in check conversion now and maybe another 2 by year end delay due to getting slots to have doors done.

So as it stands now good growth.

Any SWAG on how many 747 vs 767 new hires over next the year?

Will K4 be looking to grow the 767 more than the 747 over the next few years or will it just be what ever Connie and company can get on the cheap?

Are most people just getting guarantee or is it normal to go over 64? Thinking about applying but would like to get a feel for the finances. How much does the insurance cost (just wife and me)? Is it pretty good? What kind of take home year one? Thanks!

Like I constantly tell people you have to base everything on guarantee. If you base your finances on say 80 hours and you never make that then don't cry the blues (yes we have a few that complain they are not making enough on guarantee alone to survive!!)

So to answer your questions.

1. 64 is line guarantee. Some lines maybe more but will almost certainly go senior, BUT be prepared to fly those hours.

2. Insurance is $125 per pay (every 2 weeks) for you and wife and kids. Goes up $25 per pay each year for 3 years on the new contract. That said it is top tier BCBS.

3. First year given maybe 3 months in training and OE and BASED ON GUARANTEE ONLY should see about $70,000 less deductions plus per diem ($700-1000 per month dependent on Intl or DOM). Chances are you will make more and if you want to do O/T its at 150%.

Good advice, thanks. Is OT normally available? Do you guys keep hotel points and airline miles too? Any strong dislikes?

It is ACMI. I can not stress this enough, there is no NORMAL. Sometimes we all fly over guarantee, other times guys sit for days. I flew three legs in February. If there is a war, famine, natural disaster, holiday, industrial SNAFU, etc. we will be there and Connie will be getting paid. If its a slow month, the only guys flying will be those on DHL and a few of the other scheduled runs. This by far the hardest thing for people to get their minds around. (For some reason regional guys seem to have the hardest time with this)

We keep miles and points at places that company has not negotiated them away for cheaper rates. You usually at least get points on purchases like room service and at some places we get full points just like real business travelers.

The biggest dislike for some is the schedule. Those with young children or very needy significant others don't always do well here. For me and my family it works, but my wife/pimp is a trooper and my children are grown.

Agree with all of the above.... I think 70-75K is reasonable first year. 1st year pay is 101 an hour at 64 guarantee. Pay hours per month will be all over the place some months you will be at guarantee.. others you will be pushing 90+.... with the new "rules" of remaining on one's line... the dynamic is changing.

700 very well may be leaving... but I will believe it when I see it as its been rumored twice before... frankly its one of my least fav birds. CP says several ex Korean PW powered freighters are on the way... i can live with that.

Generally.. the hard line holders will fly the assigned flying (with a few exceptions) the RSV guys will fill in where needed and fly the pop up MIL trips and Charters. Someone asked about 747 vs 767 new hires... my guess is most of the first half or more will be 747.. and perhaps in the third quarter and onward you will see a few go to the 767.

Attrition... we have lost 4 or 5 so far this year... and in the same time period have 22 new hires in training..... with another class of 8 to start in a about 10 days
