The job isn't for everybody, I loved it, the peeps, the jet, the flying, and that was pre kick butt contract, but my wee daughter was in tears when I left every tour so I took my recall to my frac, for empty nesters with understanding spouses this job rocks, and being stuck for a few days in ANC , or Riga, well who is complaining : )

NJAX.... if you have specifics PM me.

YL... no not really.. could be weeks.. could be months... its like any other company in that the rhyme or reason who get picked out of the stack is unknown... BUT I will tell you that our CP is actively engaged in that decision.

You need to be in position determined by the company by 05:00z on day 1. The company requires a back up flight so they won't put you on the last flight of the night. It depends on where you live but most guys leave on their last day off. West coasters have it the hardest.

Ok thanks. What about at the end of a pairing can you get home the same day? Or is that on a day off also?

At the end of the line you get a ticket home the same day. The only travel on your own time is on the way to work

Default Kalitta or not to Kalitta

With the new improved contract are there many pilots jumping ship? I have options between Spirit, Jetblue, Kalitta. Any recommendations? Looking for a place to settle down can't decide which place to go.

What do you like? I much prefer traveling around the world in a 747. In comparison, anything domestic is a regional. Others only want to fly domestic. I do not care for passengers, boxes are much better, in my opinion.
Do you like schedules? Or adventure? My attitude is that they have me for 16 days, doesn't matter where I am going. I prefer layovers in Europe, and Asia as the norm.
You have to ask yourself what it is that you want.
As far as pay, you already know the answer to that.
Commuting, absolutely K4, I don't commute, I travel as a paying customer, I check my bag, K4 pays for it.
Health care. K4 is hard to beat, is it industry leading? I think it is.
I hate commuting so much, I was tempted to leave the industry. For this reason, the majors are not appealing to me,
