Dear Snowflake(s) ,

Did your Fathers never teach you how to get a Job?

I know things have changed...So, do your online app. Great.

Now, here's the Old School Part:

> Have you sent a physical Resume' ?

> Have you networked to find K4 guys that you can talk to ?

> Have you found the number to call in YIP and then made yourself KNOWN (without being a pest ) ?

> Have you followed up diligently on the above on a regular basis ?

Much as Real Estate is : " Location, Location, Location".

Job Acquisition is: " Contact, Contact, Contact. "

Be creative and use your Head.

I never had a job that I was even remotely qualified for ( until the last of Three maybe ) I just kept keeping in contact until they hired me.

Good Luck!

This is how I got every job I've ever had! Walking the line between overly annoying and pleasantly persistent

I've read the last 200 pages and it has a lot of good information since the new contract. I think I would really enjoy going to different countries and working on the application now. My questions are:

If offered a job, do new hires get a choice between the 767 or 747 or should you take the one offered? Seems like totally different lifestyles for each.

How much deadheading can one reasonably expect other than to and from home? Is there much overseas deadheading or do you generally begin and end your trip in the US? I thought a read a few pages back that you don't get much choice when it comes to your deadheads. Do they get you on full service carriers or will they put you on Spirit or Ryan Air type airlines for the shorter flights? If you're loyal to a frequent flyer program can you request to stick with a certain airline or alliance (ie One World/Star Alliance)? Or do you have to just take the flight the travel department gives you? I figure if I lose flight benefits, getting airline status would be the tradeoff.

Doing during one's line... comes and goes... sometimes it happens alot... maybe 2-3 legs a month.. other time not at all. The busier we have become, there has been an uptick in DHing during a line. MOST trips start and end in the US... Every month there are a some trips that end up having someone DH from home to get into position to fly internationally. I did it to HKG late last year. Luck of the draw. Generally Spirit and Ryan air types get used very very little if at all. The company is under NO obligation to fly you on your preferred carrier. Knowing the answers to what flights you want before you call travel helps a lot... it wont solve a pricing issue... but generally they take your input on flights into consideration, but not always. these are first world issues.. get hired first worry about company directed travel after OE is complete.

Default What's the difference?

Do I'm confused. Is there a Kalitta Air and a Kalitta Charters? Or is it the same company? Seems like it's 2 different companies that do the same thing. Why have them separate?

There are actually three certificates and companies....

Kalitta Air LLC -- AKA Connie -- 747s and 767s

Kalitta Charters -- Lears and Falcons

Kalitta Charters II -- 727, 737 and DC-9s

There is no flow between Kalitta Air..and the Charters ops...

No disrespect to HercDriver, but there is Kalitta history behind the multiple certificates. And, there are actually 5 of them. 3 different 135 and 2 different 121.

Once a long time ago, invaders from the dark side came and took away one of the certificates. And, back then there was only one. So, after Kalitta was lifted to the light again, Connie made a vow to never be exposed to the dark side again in a way that would cause the airline to cease to exist. That is the real deal behind multiple certificates.
