FDX Contract - Hmmmm ...

Multiple sources report our esteemed/infamous company negotiator JM made the following observations at a very recent meeting of managers:

1. Union and Company NOT EVEN CLOSE to a deal - over $1 billion apart based on contract value estimates.

2. JM is surprised and practically stupified the union doesn't sign a deal now. He thinks the company's positions are extremely generous and the Stratton/Larsen leadership are WAY OFF BASE. Could there be a personal financial incentive not to make a deal?

3. No way a contract gets done before peak. Fuhgetaboutit. Probably at least a full year out before completion. He expects and welcomes ARBITRATION. No worries on his part, it's just part of the process. (with a smile and sarcasm)

4. And the most bizarre part of the presentation/speech/update -- he took the time to put on __ OUR ALPA CONTRACT NOW__ lanyard for effect. He emphasized repeatedly ... the company negotiating team is working hard and they want a contract too. Really? Isn't this the same guy that has only agreed to 4 more calendar days of negotiations for the remainder of 2014?

My takeaway: Company thinks we're lucky/fortunate to get ANYTHING above what we already have ... we are just another cost center that must be controlled via scheduling and money ... our value to the company is equivalent to everyone else, just another cog in the machine. Rewarding us for record profits, record shareholder value, and exorbitant executive bonuses is simply not part of the plan. He's tired and wants to get it over with too.

Really?
Perspective:
$45 BILLION annual revenues equals approx $125 MILLION PER DAY.
Pilot annual costs are approx 2% of revenues folks.

This should be interesting.
Let it rip ...

I bought my jacket and the hat is in the mail.

My MEC speaks for me.

Still waiting for my hat. And, time off sure is nice.

I always suspected that we weren't a valued asset. This just confirms it ... I'm disappointed.

Would be nice if someone wore Google Glass to the meeting.

A video is very useful, in the interest of openness and transparency.

Don't forget the hat doesn't come with the pin.

You mean the FedEx hat insignia? It should. Mine did. Call them and ask where the heck it is.

MeXC 08-12-2014 06:50 PM

It doesn't come with the Fedex insignia.

Nope...VF is out of insignia due to high demand. You have to get it directly from the company. Contact Sheila Turman via email and let her know you need the hat emblem. She will Fedex it to your address on record. I got it in less than a week after leaving her a message.
