Empire?

Wow, those two old cranks are still there!?! Belinda was just coming onboard when I was leaving, but she made no excuses for her hated of pilots! She will cheat you out of money any way she can. Marie is mostly harmless; just a moron with a little bit of power. I heard Mr. Feathered Hair is still there. I will say Dan P. is one of the best dudes I have ever met in aviation. He was the only thing standing between that company and complete and utter catastrophe. As I understand it, he got fed up and went back to the line.
There were a lot of really good guys when I was there, but they've all moved on...I hope.
All in all, I would look elsewhere.

Bump.
So I see the Missoula MT Captain is open again. With there only being one plane there. I wonder.... In July of this year they filled the Missoula Captain. Would love to move there. But have concerns and doubts about empire. Anyone have any info?

Just Say No
I have to agree with ALL the negative comments about Empire Airlines.Sorry, but it's true....The flying is simple but it's extremely stressful working for Empire because they look for ANY reason to fire pilots..The secret to keeping a job there is to keep your mouth shut and stay sharp as a tack...meaning...if they ask you a question be sure to answer an Empire's correct "Everything is Awesome" answer.Don't even make a joke that could be construed as being negative in any fashion or else...Speeding ticket ? They could easily say that you are reckless and therefore a liability to Empire. They will nosedive on you in a millisecond and start with the "What if's" ??
Seriously, the people at HQ are like the 'Lego Movie' characters (LOL) if your not exactly like them then you MUST be different and then the witch hunt begins and you WILL be fired...I won't admit where I'm based either for fear of being fired....I'm NOT kidding...STAY AWAY FROM EMPIRE AIRLINES....!!!!
So, what do you think happen to the Missoula Captain ? Next !!!
Flip a coin for the 50% plus failure rate at Flight Safety and you might get to try your luck with IOE...
Missoula was nice in the summer but I heard that the winter there is God awful. You are required to monitor the loading which can take about 1 hour each direction standing outside in the -C temps. and BLOWING wind...Block time=1.5 hrs. per night x 5 nights per week =7.5 hrs.per week...once you get 100 hrs. PIC. you will be splitting the 7.5 hrs. a week with another Captain...half PIC. and half SIC....Even if you flew a whole month you would be lucky to get 12-15 hrs. PIC.
I'm not a time builder but I'm spending more time freezing my ars off being a 'load monitor' rather than flying for a living....
I can't wait to get another job so I can get my sanity back..interview in 1 week...OH,THANK GOD !!!

Did a little time at Empire as an ATR captain. All the above is true. It can be horrible/weird, but also pretty good, however, you need a divining rod or something else special to figure where the unexpected will come out and screw you over. Personalities: HR gals have way too much power and are pretty much lower on the bell curve. The DO was good, as was the infamous DP. Pay is absurd. Northern Idaho seems to be proud to work for less. Too bad that doesn't translate elsewhere, CA, WA, AK, HI, etc. The company manual is pretty fair until you read the last page, paraphrase; Company can decide to do whatever it wants whenever it wants and over rules anything in the preceding pages. Flight Safety at Houston was horrible. I was one of the few pilots ever furloughed. Went to India and made 3x and had a great time. Later, they refused to honor the furlough. Then a bit later I re-applied for a re-hire, got a one word email back from M in HR, "really?". Yeah, that's "really" professional. Now they are desperate for ATR pilots. Oh well.
