UPS Sim evaluation
Does anyone know what sim they are using for interviews these days?
|
As far as I know (which isn't much) whatever is available that day.
|
I did mine in the 767.
|
The sim I used was the B767 Fixed base sim (FBS). That week the 767 & 727 were rsvd for HR. I guess it depends on the week maybe the day if the sim goes down.

Mine was in the B727 w/ motion. FWIW ... |
Beagle,
Any word yet bro? |
Regret letter I am sorry to say. It has been a tough couple of days. I am hoping for a 2nd chance at some point down the road. Thanks for asking though.

MD-11 fixed base trainer.....no motion, no visual.

Beagle,
I am sorry to hear that bro! Keep your chin up and don't change your positive attitude. I am sure things will work out for you. Like I told you before things will always work out, the man upstairs has a plan for all of us. |
767 Fixed base on 11/20/06
Good Luck |
Thanks Shaggy. I'll get another shot at some point. With some more experience and persistence, I'll get it.;)

yeah beagle dont feel bad i did mine in the fixed 767 and a letter too. good luck!!! i thought it was really pitch sensitive dont know about you??:D
|
Thanks for the replies. I have a buddy going next week. I was just wondering what they have been using lately (ie. last few weeks) if anyone knew.
|
tell him to make SURE if he is in the fixed trainer to be prepared for the pitch sensitivity and don t forget after takeoff, approach, just tell them what he is doing the entire time. it is hard when you are used to having crm. just a thought

It's not the end of the world. Keep your chin up. Both DAL and UAL turned me down over the years. I'm an MD-11 Captain today. I won! |
Thanks Mark and Grady, I appreciate it.

I strongly agree to let the evaluator know what you are doing. I did mine in 94 on the DC-8..No prep at all, I was set up on a dogleg to final. The evaluator said, "your jet" I reached for the speed brakes/spoilers and he laughed (The DC-8 has none, airborne) he then asked what are you going to do? This is where they are evaluating you thought process, I told him I'd ask for extended vectors or a 360 to lose altitude, He said "good". then setting up for an ILS I had no approach plate. When I asked for one he said he didn't have it but what was the information I needed? again he was delving into my thought processes. Also a few guys had a real ugly time in the sim, but they were hired. Big Picture-----I think they are looking at how you think/react under stress and they don't expect you to fly a perfect jet. On a final note He asked me how I thought the approach went? (I "S-turned" on the localizer throughtout the approach, but flew it well enough to land) I admitted I "S-turned" too much and when he asked why I told him my current jet was less roll sensitive than the DC-8 (If you could believe that) and I was used to more roll inputs. He said He was impressed with the answer. I was hired after about 5 weeks in the pool, started early 95
hope this helps Vito |
I did mine in the 767 FBS, and it definitely helped doing some Microsoft FS on my computer beforehand. Last week they were using the 72 sim alot, although this week it's busy with training.
