It's not just Anchorage, it's UPS Anchorage...
Of the 87+ new hire FOs going into the right seat of the MD11 this year, most are going to our new ANC domicile. If you don't enjoy long dark winter nights, it's not all bad news. The growth for FOs in ANC will be fast and once on the list, almost everyone will come on board below you. The extra monthly stipend for probies will keep one from having to eat dog food out of a can, but the crash pad and commuting scene hasn't even begun to settle down.
Our latest (only the second) schedule bid package for the ANC domicile does NOT look good for commmuters, with a majority of the lines having at least several reports per month, with some trips having less than 5 days off in between. The latest 2 month bid period has a total of 26 lines: # reports = # published lines 3 =1 4 =8 5= 5 6= 6 7 =4 8= 2 Of the 45 Captains currently in ANC, the most junior was hired in 6/1998. Of the current 30 FOs in ANC, the most senior was hired on 3/1998, and the most junior was hired on 11/1/2006.We're supposed to end up with at least 100-125 crews in ANC by the end of this year, and me thinks all of the FO spots will be filled by new hires. If you have 4000 hours+, FMS glass time, and any international experience UPS HR is gunning for you! Best of luck all, and welcome aboard!:) |
Good Post ...
Thanks for the info ... I think ?
Waiting for the call from Brown, so I guess I know where the most likely domicile offered will be ? Anyone know of any over the counter blood thickners ? Or should I just use plain old anti-freeze if I have to move from PHX to ANC ? I HATE TO COMMUTE ! :D Other than moving from south FL, could there be a more drastic climate change than PHX to ANC ? in the US ? If there is, I need to know to soon. At least then I can tell my wife that its not as bad as going from PHX to ABC or XYZ ... |

Took me 10,000 + TT with online rec.
Approx 9500 turbine of various sorts, 16 years 121 airline experience, recently overwater qualified. But I do think others have made the show with less ... FWIW :D |
Sample ANC MD11 line. 4 reports on the top half (28 day pay period), and 3 on the bottom:
http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...md11febmar.gif Key: Rpt = Report L/O = Layover 2035 = 20:35 credit hours for that trip The vertical bars signify a weekend Most lines have fewer reports than this. |

I mean this seriously, but I wonder if it would be worth it for people like that to open a po mailbox in Anchorage and make sure that HR has that address as their contact. With a decided slant towards hiring Anchorogians, it may be worth a shot?
