Coming from the company without crew force prompting and coming prior to peak are not a coincidence. Be very afraid and learn to love the trips as they are awarded. I hope I'm wrong.

What do you mean "...love the trips as they are awarded."?

The trip you THINK you were awarded is not necessarily what you'll get. You know damn well they'll be changed, extended, and generally forked with to cover manglement's short-sightedness.

I don't speak management, but I think what they said is we don't have enough pilots on reserve since we went to our new manning model during 4A2b.

The day this changed, I dropped a Halloween RFO trip after having it denied about 15 times. The night of the change it got approved. Friday is "Senior Recogniition" at my middle daughter's high school, and I was grateful for the change.

Today I got a draft call asking if I wanted to work the same day. I explained that I was busy with family obligations.

I don't see a lot of black helicopters here. When BLGs were low guys would pick up extra flying if they could. Outside of certain select periods I think that is a good thing about working at FedEx. In this environment, however, with higher BLGs and pilots not feeling happy about delays in our contract, PBS offers, retirement issues, etc I doubt there are a lot of guys raiding open time.

Thus…when things are good…you don't need as many reserves. Treat the crew force roughly and you better have a deeper bench. I think flight management just told you how things were going on their end. I am just glad I got to squeak out of that one trip during the interim. I don't expect to be able to drop much this month, however….

Well, Albie, consider yourself lucky for squeaking one in before they changed the policy back (as they did per the FCIF that just came out). Tried to drop a trip on a day with almost nothing open, and max open a big number----denied for insufficient reserves. I suspect that no matter what the numbers are on that day, everything will be denied. I wonder if that's just the week before Thanksgiving, or all month. And in my seat position, people pick up every open trip.

Not a single day has gone by on RA or RB where I haven't had the privilege of being assigned to an event ... for the last 5 months. No BS. And no, I'm not one of the DHs that accept trips over and over after exceeding RLG. No difference than pure DRF/VLT.

CRS continuously maxing out the reserves and still drafting.
Somehow I wasn't launched off an airport standby recently ... called for release at end of period ... multiple times.

CRS response: we've been extremely busy covering Open Time trips in ALL SEATS and didn't have time to answer. So much DRF to fill, so little time. Interesting ... especially when in SOME SEATS there exists NO OPEN TIME (published in VIPS). Reindeer games continue. Just wait until we get deep into peak. VTO and lines looking soooo much better. RA or RB? Get the ready ...

I will wager $$$ that plenty of guys will drop trips/trade trips, and be available for DRF/VLT to cover any gaps during the next 2 bid months.
Lots of guys.

WAKE UP

If scheduling was smart, they'd realize that. However, if they are that low on people, they aren't going to let those guys drop trips, so they'll be picking things up on their free time

Your assumption is CRS is smart ... not verified.
Desperate yes, smart is TBD.
Trade trips, drop trips, whatever. (edited previous post for clarification)

All that's required is to create gaps to make a footprint.

$$$ is not the problem.
Bodies is the problem for CRS.

I really like the idea of flying your schedule.
I really like the idea of flying the PUBLISHED DH (commuters).
Until everyone flies EXACTLY what they bid, we will continue in status quo.

Same message from management with standing bids - bid what you want to fly.
EXACTLY - I will bid my line, and I will fly my line. Nothing more, nothing less.

A passive, spineless MEC leadership doesn't help either.
I've vented my thoughts already in person to the leadership.
Response ... passive and spineless.
