It looks like dirty turboprop time still counts.

We've got a bunch of P-3 and C130 folks! (Damn good pilots!)

The Herk guys seem to be a little sharper than the Orion guys.

I'm pretty sure you were a new hire once!

I see there is a correctable 20/20 vision requirement. Has anyone heard of them waving that in the past if one has received a SODA and continues to obtain a Class 1?

Exactly! By definition, they are NEW! May have worlds of experience but new to the FedEx system and possibly new to night hub turns, non tower ops, CatIII world, etc.

Oh.....My........Gawd the horror!

Well - if you find yourself with one of.......them, just let them read this post.

Night Hub turns:
Show up in lobby at pick up time.
Fly airplane to MEM or ______ (fill in Dest.)
Go into ops, drop off fuel slips, go to sleep room or BS with everyone you know
1 hour before departure time
Look at release, print same, staple, put in folder
Go to jet.
Fly to destination – go to hotel – sleep. (rinse, repeat)

Non-tower ops:
Select appropriate freq
Tell everyone on freq what you’re doing and when you’re landing
If you can’t see the runway click the mic a bunch of times until you can.

CatIII:
PM for Captain flying an ILS
If he doesn’t say “landing” at minimums tell him to “go around”
Remind him not to disconnect the autopilot – let it land the airplane
Try not to get lost on the taxi in

I should probably write the new IOE guide.

So that's it? 20+ years at FedEx, using those "secrets" and you go and give them away in one post. Oh, My Gawd! The horror of it all.
