I believe at Delta the MD-11 aka "The Scud" was also called the "Money Dog" since it paid the most per hour when introduced.
UPSPilot,
Not scared of the MD, just not a big fan of it. An opinion shared by 95% of the world's airlines BTW. Plus the DC-8 was way more challenging to fly anyway. 165K final approach speeds are not indicative of a well designed aircraft. From what I've been told the DC-10 was a better flying aircraft. Glad you enjoy it, I prefer my 75/76's

Vito, I'm wondering if you're an airline or a pilot, because while most airlines might not have liked the MD-11, most of the pilots (that I know who've flown it) loved it. And while it may not be your cup or tea, it is/was a great jet. However, that said, I'm glad that you enjoy flying those light twins.

Old Chinese proverb: Boeing builds airplanes, Douglass builds character. That said, the MD may land fast, but she still flies like an honest airplane. And while I miss many things about flying big Boeings, the comfort and quiet in the MD's cockpit is tough to beat.
