What a crock of crap! If I, as a commander at a Guard or Reserve unit, fielded a phone call like that, I'd explain that although FedEx is an important part of today's environment, it does take a big back seat to military necessity. Pure and simple. The laws are the laws, regardless of what FedEx management thinks. There's just got to be something in the water down in Mecca-Red-Necka, which turns smart people into dummies.

Timing is everything, be it good--or in this case--indescribably bad. And no, he did not hit "send" on the Happy Veteran's Day FCIF. With all due respect, sir, there is nothing that your military liaison needs to "work" with our military commanders. This is a threat, plain & simple. And it is noted--yet again. Thanks for unifying our pilot force even more.

How about nominating all out guard/reserve bros who serve during the holidays for a BZ? Nah...never mind.

Two of our pilots I know very well had their commanders called last year to bully them into not taking Military Leave. The calls started something like this "This is General Delta Tango, I'd like to speak to someone in charge preferably a Lt Col or above." One of the commanders actually had a pilot go non-current to fly in December because he was concerned about future pilots getting hired here. The other stood his ground, explained to Delta Tango that he was breaking the law by even making the phone call, and basically told him to ARGO (if you remember the line from the movie ARGO, I think you will catch my drift). These actions are illegal, unpatriotic, and plain wrong. To send out this kind of FCIF on VETERANS DAY is unbelievable. To not send out the yearly "thanks for your service" msg is unforgivable. I don't think anyone is that dumb, but I've been wrong before.
OBTW -- There is no embellishment in this msg....

I guess they were counting on us not going to war with less than 60 days notice. Wonder what the War plans assume.
