Default trip guarantee for a stby/fdx

Anyone know where in the contract it says you don't hold trip guarantee for a AStby? They cancelled it and said I don't get paid because I don't hold trip guarantee. I am thinking they would argue a standby is not a "trip" but it shows in the trip recap.

What did it show in the trip assignment code? TRP, RSV, MUS, MUD, DRF, VLT... etc.

You never have trip guarantee for any MU assignment until you block out.

Section 4.O. Minimum Guarantees and Other Pay Provisions - Base Standby Pay

A pilot on base airport or base hotel standby shall be guaranteed minimum standby pay of an R-day value, except as provided in Section 4.O.2. (below).
If a pilot eligible for substitution is assigned a base stand-by, (as provided in Section 25.H.5.d.), and does not block-out on a trip, he shall be credited with 6 CH towards his substitution guarantee. If he blocks out on a trip, he shall be compensated the greater of trip guarantee for such trip or substitution availability credit.
If a pilot on base airport standby blocks out on a trip, he shall earn the trip guarantee for that trip, with the calculation of MPDP and duty rig beginning at showtime of the standby period.
If a pilot on base hotel standby blocks out on a trip, he shall earn the trip guarantee for that trip.

Airport Stby is a suckers game

Once you volunteer you can't drop it

If they cancel prior you don't get paid

Live & Learn, but don't make the same mistake twice

Let them fill those with reserves

I assume you mean MU standby periods. You obviously have trip guarantee for make up trips. If you do make up vacation or make up sick you aren't guaranteed squat. Make up sick and vacation are suckers bets also...

Actually this isn't true.

4.P
1. If a pilot is assigned a make-up trip, other than make-up sick or make-up vacation, he shall earn trip guarantee.

Your ref for the stby is correct but not for "ANY" MU assignment.

You are correct, my use of the term "any" was wrong.

SO why not guarantee for a standby? Because it is not a "trip"?

Because it is simply a scheduling tool for management. They can show an open slot, deny trip trading, and if they feel the need fill it, or cancel it. Call it weather insurance.
