Question for Fed Ex ANC based crews

Do Fed Ex ANC based crewmembers get any cost of living supplements?

TIA:confused:

HSLD 01-10-2007 06:08 PM

Besides the permanent fund dividend?

I think it was around $64,000/yr according to this post :)

Not from FedEx.

Not a penny. There is a move package to get your trash up there and back, but you have to commit to staying there for 3 years or pay it back. They do nothing to aid you in selling or buying your home. It is a good deal if you have always dreamed of living in Alaska, but that is about it.

Every trip is international, so you do get the international override and per diem, but so does anyone flying out of MEM flying intl.

$64,000 was the PFD. You only get a move package with a 3 year obligation. No COLA.

Thanks fellas,

Apparently we (at UPS) got roughly the same deal, with a couple other perks. However the early advanced crews are getting treated like we were a non-sched flea bag. Par for the course.

Sideshow...

Why did you bid such a bad deal then, along with many others? You're a glass half empty kind of guy on the ipa forum; not surprising to see that reflected here.

Sideshow = Nattering Nabob of Negativism. I think he would have been happier back at US Air!

Didn't bid it, I got displaced to it. As for dealing with brown, non-squeaky wheels get no grease and half full glasses like you get no water. YMMV.

anc

sideshow...

So, they MADE you go to anc....give me a break. You could have held capt on any sdf fleet except for the 74 classic and maddog. So don't make a bs statement that they "made" you go by displacing you there. You chose where you wanted to end up, so stop b*tching about it.

Still on furlough with 17 years seniority...but you can always hope <g>. Glad you're the designated UPS happy meal distributor, somebody's gotta do it. :D

Didn't say the "made" me, just that they displaced me. A bit late on the meds today? I'm not really in the position to spend weeks in training on another fleet due to family issues (ie: sick family) but thanks for the genuine concern and as usual the all knowing mentality...at least you're consistent. While ANC is doable, both the company and previous EB haven't really stepped up to the plate and it will ultimately hurt the pilot group and the company unless there are improvements. I have great hope that Miller will do more than anyone else has and patiently await improvements. But if my pointing out the shortcomings upsets you, then you've got bigger problems than me. But many already know that.;)

You chose to be displaced to ANC! One can always stay in the lower 48, just got to go back being a senior FO. And live the good life with a great schedule.

And then age 65, 67 or 70 passes and get locked in place with less pay, retirement and disability if the unthinkable happens. The old adage, never pass up an interview, an upgrade or a bathroom isn't around for no reason.

Bob,
You SWORE to me over a beer (or many?) that you'd NEVER commute up to the ANC domicile just for Captains pay!?!

Guess you just did it for the prestige then, right, CAPTAIN?:D

Aren't you going through LGB upgrade training now?

I thought it was:

Never trust a fart, never pass a urinal without using it and never waste a hard on, even if you're by yourself!

Oh, that was the old pilot adage. ;)

With a close relative succumbing to alzheimers, now is not the time to go into long term training, and besides the last time we shared adult beverages there was no ANC domicile. But long before that I seem to recall you swearing that you wouldn't quit the negotiating committee so I guess things do change...

Sitting A in ANC as I type...perhaps you have me confused with my evil twin who I think is starting training.;)
