Default FDX... HKG advice

Headed out to asia (again)... but this time I have a wife and young baby. In Subic we were allowed to bring almost what ever we wanted, but now we have this FDA Loa to work with. Any of yall go out there with the meager 1000lbs of stuff? I know in general things are easier to come by in HKG but sometimes cost prohibitive.

What would you bring/ not bring if you had it to do over again.

What surprises did you get once settling in?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer.

The Hong Kong pilots have their own forum that only they can enter. My guess is every question you have can be answered there. You should get a PM, with instructions, soon from one or more of them that frequent this site. Have fun out there.

Cool, I'll see if anything pops up from them on their forum. Thanks for the direction.

Bring plenty of forks. Leave the lawn mower at home.

If you wear bigger than size 10 shoe, finding shoes there could be a problem. Also, beds tend to be on the short side. It feels very cold there during Chinese New Year period and the buildings don't have central heat. Temps at night can be in the 30's and very wet. All the ex-pats and many Chinese flee to south east asia during this period.

I know you asked for the People Manual, but there is also the 2013 Pilot Benefit Book which is on the iPad|Secure Content Locker|Reference|Company/HR.

There is also a 2015 Summary of Benefits publication there. Between the three pubs, I hope you can find what you're looking for.

PM me.

I came out with 13 bags, 9 checked, 4 carry one, 70lbs each.

I maxed out my 1000 lbs.

Will send you good, bad, other on recommended stuff and get you to other folks recommendations.

HK google forum is okay for info and points of contact and will also point you that way.

If bringing a pet let me know and have wealth of info to help make that easy, despite the Chinese love of paperwork.

Cheers and happy new year.
