Form the latest Union Positive Rate.

There is obviously a lot of detail in the topics that we discussed. We were pleased to see a PiBS-free Section 25 proposal, but otherwise, management’s move was not sufficient. When both parties accept the mindset of focused solutions within the existing structure, the deal could be close at hand. Without that, we anticipate a more difficult path ahead.

Sounds like we can at least but that issue to rest.

While the company chose to waste our time with PBS, maybe they thought better than to waste the NMB's time with that BS. It's kind of hard to sell-"We want these guys to agree to a program that they haven't seen". So the mediator would say let's see it and they would be forced to produce something they don't have.
It was a nice stall tactic by the company and a better response from the Pilots. And now we can move on.

Not a "win" guys, it was just a distraction

There's a few more we need to ignore, by letting them know we are NOT, in any way, looking for a concessionary contract in a time of high profits & record stock price

Was PBS "ever" a serious proposal? I suggest it was just a minor part of Management's "Stall as Long as Possible Strategy." Quite frankly, it's insulting. We deserve and have earned better treatment.

Surely they don't think we would ever vote for a "we haven't written this program yet but you know that you can trust us" concept? I hope they think we're smarter than that!*?

Much more likely is like MD-11HOG says. They couldn't possible defend (or even explain?) PBS to the NMB. I hope we don't see it again later. None of this means we won't see efficiencies snuck into out next contract, it simply means it will have to be in writing instead of disguised as a scheduling benefit!*?

What was the company's proposal regarding vacation?

The same union missive said a proposal was made about the vacation section, but no details.

Fly your contract, boys and girls. Let's all keep our eyes on the ball. In the meantime, the company is still drafting due to lack of crews.

The chickens haven't come home to roost yet. I heard from the crew bus driver that while section 25 was PBS free, the "adjustment" in the company position was to ask for 40% or 50% VTO percentages in all seats. (I've heard both numbers.). Anyone heard the same or can dispel that rumor?

Good let's settle for 25% and fix VTOs and get real time trip trading and a fix to insufficient reserves. This could be a chance to make scheduling better for junior line holders.

It's not complicated. You can tie this in to the 1500 word essay question for SCP candidates. The one that asks how to repair the rift with pilots WHILE staying true to corporate goals.

At best, the SCP is asked to walk a tight rope. The Corporate directive is to stay true to the cost cutting mandate. This will improve the profit margin. Just read SEC filings for more details, it's been there for some time. The SCP is not given direction on how to properly manage the pilots. This magic trick is left to the candidate, as long as they stay true to the corporate goal.

Nothing is to get in the way of the push to only offer us concessionary proposals in every money heavy section of the CBA or to just delay movement to anything else. That's why we are now in mediation after YEARS of management not showing up at the table with the intent to negotiate. The mediator has already been shown much more respect than any of our pilots at the table have. Funny since the company has only known him for a month.

Repair the Rift? Try showing us, the pilots, R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Does anyone higher than PC read these boards? One can only hope.

(I do believe that was significantly less than 1500 words)

They want to make more Secondary reserve lines. The ones where you have no say in which days off you get and they can make them really ugly with stupid days on/days off patterns.

Ridiculous, of course. If they want more reserve lines they should....wait for it....build more reserve lines.

It gives them incredible flexibility. No disruptions or extra pays. If they want you to let you drop a day or two of reserve they get to choose which ones.

THIS is why we need better reserve line pay. If that needed change is made this love of the variable reserve line will fade.
