FDX Expanding vacation to knock out c/o
 

Would one of you vacation experts be kind enough to verify my take on carryover trips...

I have a carryover trip the first week of Apr and vacation scheduled for third week.
Even with a 5 day slide to the left I can not touch the c/o trip.

My take on contract is that I can NOT expand to the left to touch the c/o trip......

In sum; slides are allowable to knock out a c/o trip but you can not expand to knock out a c/o.
Do I have this correct????

I think you can expand left even for carryout, just expand hour limits kick in.

Uh oh, just got this msg when I tried to put in for expanding vacation;

"You have no vacation periods eligible to expand"
You have no upcoming vacations to expand, or none that are eligible to expand. If you feel this is incorrect, please contact your Flight Manager. Thank you.

My c/o trip is showing up on my schedule so I guess it is not eligible to expand into :confused: :mad:

I think your problem is you can't expand your april vacation until the April bid month which will be too late to knock out your carryover trip.

I just did this in FEB-MAR and I think I found that I was able to slide left and right for the carry out for next month but I could not expand. I was able to eventually expand it to the CBA limits once actually in the bid month. I emailed crsfutures and they answered me within an hour but your problem is that it is now Sunday.

I believe your error message is related to trying to expand a vacation period for next month and doesn't mean you "don't" have vacation next month. Where you able to slide it? That brings up a good question about expanding carry in/over once the bid period starts...how would the trip be conflicted since it would cause a short notice drop? Bid Period processing summary page is your friend in this case.

I'm worried that if I have to wait until Apr then I will receive a msg saying something to the effect of; "sooo sorry but the trip your trying to knock out starts in a prior bid month and is not eligible for expansion"

Yes, the system is letting me slide the vaca to the left.....just not allowing me to continue to the left with expansion.

Was your trip that you were trying to hit a carry in (beginning in the bid month prior to your vaca month like mine, or did your carry trip begin in the same bid month as your vaca and carry to the following month?

I agree with you that if the system won't allow me to expand into the c/o trip during this months processing (since it is for a trip that starts next month) then it will create a short notice drop during the Apr adjustments....

it is in CBA 7.E.3.c . no expanding into a trip that begins outside of the bid period your vacation lies within.
