You know, in the military we launched jets during exercises wearing chemical gear and with certain facilities "destroyed" for exercise purposes and unavailable. Often, when you tried to make it work it was a chocolate mess. So--we practiced, developed plans and contingency plans, and pretty soon things worked in a more orderly fashion. My impression is that at MEM each ice event is its own crisis...a brand new event nobody has ever seen before or contemplated how to solve. I am safely at home during this latest fiasco, so this is all from the peanut gallery...but it is disheartening to see some of the same mistakes made over and over. (MD11s getting whacked by de-ice trucks comes to mind). I would like to think our company--as a living, breathing entity--is in a state of learning and continual improvement. These ice events--and I have been in a few over the years--don't give me much confidence in the continuity or lessons learned being passed down. Maybe I'm just not seeing the big picture...

It really is simple, no incentive to fix it. Act of God sorry about your guarantee, we will get it to you when we can. One or two screwed up weeks out of fifty two is no reason to pay rampers extra to fight the cold and snow. Duopolies are nice, of course I get my Amazon fulfillment deliveries on Sunday with no charge shipping.

being assigned to crew control is not entry level. They are hand picked because the job is so fluid and important. They are rather smart!
Being chosen to management crew control is even more special.
So to put out such an unethical position to try and jawbone the pilots into not filing for their earned pay is, I think, a well thought out and accepted management position.
Disturbing to say the least.

Since you haven't been to the AOC lately, let me give you a quick heads up on the new procedures we are now following to get through security...

That's how tired I was. I meant TUESDAY morning the 17th.
Paylog was rejected, now forwarded back to Mgr. Crew Resource Scheduling with another request to rebuild my pairing to reflect Duty Period that we performed.
Such fun. And today, we went from single runway ops to "Can you hold at Gilmore? The single runway just closed."

Haven't been in MEM all week, but this situation doesn't surprise me....nor, do I believe it was unintentional.
At times, Crew Scheduling lacks both integrity and transparency and I have seen multiple instances where they try to ignore what they are actually planning or executing in an attempt not to pay overage or disruption pay....jor not to admit your trip has RAT'd or SUB'd
Let me repeat --- multiple instances.
It's about control initially, and during the event (they don't want you declining SUB and going home) --- and then in the end, $$ (they don't want to pay the extra $$ you are entitled to by the CBA, which of course they signed)
Next time in MEM I'll look for those Flight Management Core Value posters they had up in the old AOC last year.
Did they make it back up after the remodel??
I do know we still have the 'special napkins' which are so motivating!

I'll bet they wouldn't have any problem pulling up every iteration of your pairing, every keystroke you made associated with it, and every recorded voice call you made regarding it...if you were being disciplined/prosecuted for something in our Just Culture. Amazing how dishonest these guys are...and worse, that the managers (I refuse to use the word leader) are complicit in it at every level.
