Tuesday was the biggest soup sandwhich I've ever seen.

My over night was converted into an o&b, no capt avail. Checked in, waited 4 hrs, then tried to call crew control. Phone rang 15 min, a quick " crew control please hold", then 30 min later she answered. Still was legal to fly as published so was told to call back. Still no capt. Called back when illegal to fly pairing as scheduled and my flight had disappeared off The big board and Flight coordination said it'd been canx. Took an hour to finally get a hold of someone, get the pairing dropped for legality, and go home. 7hrs total in AOC.

My story is on the mild side of buffoonery compared to some of the stories I've heard. Guys had been there for a couple days, who'd shown foresight in coming in early to operate because they knew the weather was going to be bad. Yet no powers that be saw to limit the inbounds Monday after the sleet fell and it started to freeze into 2 inches of crusty ice. Saw no flight management walking around AOC the entire time I was there.

At least they limited inbounds yesterday. Md-11 landed right after we did. Took a left at hotel one and had 0 traction. They were calling for a tug and could only hold position using reverse thrust. Very slick.

Put in a Paylog for the overnight to o&b conversion before the cancellation. We'll see what they say.

Hey, don't knock those 'special napkins'. They actually work alot better than those single ply, single square, stuck in the hole dung cleaners we've been using.

This morning it was raining, so all flights were catered with Breakfast Snacks, and there was a buffet of fruit, cheese, crackers, cookies, etc., in the "Cafe." <scratches head> Now, why couldn't they have thought of that when the fleet was grounded?

Napkins ... and custom printed cups ... the micro cups came back this week, the ones we had when the custom printed cups made their debut. The coffee lady explained that we have 6,000 of them, and they won't let her order any normal size cups until they're all gone. I "used" a few extra.

Oh, and about those motivational napkins. She told me we got those at an incredible discount since the printer messed them up and we bought them as misprints. The printer thought we wanted:

SAFETY
LEADERSHIP
PROFESSIONALISM

What we had actually ordered was:

$AFETY
LEADER$HIP
PROFE$$IONALI$M

Naturally, we couldn't pa$$ up such a big di$count.

OK. That's enough already. You guys complain over the smallest things. In comparison, I've been waiting for my Dobermans' new, larger collar for the past week and a half. Now that's something to b!tch about. Seriously, the more I read about what's happening there, the happier I am about retirement. Regardless of your feelings and how much the Company is screwing with you, be careful out there. Especially on icy stairs. I watched my Captain do a one and a half gainer with a twist, while flying off the ice-covered stairs at SYR, many years ago. He ended up having to take almost a year off so his lower back could heal. None of you want that. Be Safe!

75 hours in vacation hole and it's just Feb. Winter is for skiing, not flying. Or..in some cases...getting ready for a big move.

Let's just hope until the Company fixes this that no pilot violates any FAR's, like 1 in 7 for example. The pay issue is significant and everyone obviously deserves the pay associated with that duty but now Scheduling has put the ball back in the pilots court to consider a "ghost" duty period that they refuse to record on some pilot's calendars.

I would be calling my Fleet CA ASAP and demanding the duty be recorded properly, then the pay should be corrected as well. The STSHOW or STDUTY code should be used to document on and off times.

I think it would behoove everyone the next time this happens that when the scheduler calls and says you're trip has now been canceled that you tell the scheduler that you want your pairing to be revised to show ARPT STBY for the entire time you were on duty.
