The company could go broke if they gave ALPA a contract that included a decent pay raise ...

It amazes me and others that it seems that FDX Pilot Group "just" wants a small COLA, or descent pay increase and everyone will be content? Not saying it's true, but this is how it appears from many from the text written here and from friends who fly there.

I guess my question is why settle for such a low increase in Pay? My neighbor who flies with FDX is very frustrated that he thinks many are settling and not energetic about significant pay raises. Like 25% Minimum day 1.

Why this Attitude? Is it from your leadership in the Union? Not saying it's true, hopefully a mistaken perception. Hopefully you guys get the Top hourly over $300 where it belongs.

I'm not so sure what we're asking for anymore...seems like the communication has really quieted down. Hopefully the 1 March rally will wake everybody up again.

I recall the big news for 1974 when Delta ALPA signed a contract that would pay their 747 Captains over $100,000 a year. When that is translated into 2014 Dollars using the CPI calculator that number becomes over $480,194.

The point is even though FedEx and UPS have good pay and benefits they both 30% behind the pay and benefits paid by the top airline pilot jobs of the 1960s and 1970s.

As a pilot group, I think we are just a reflection of society. Meaning, we are apathetic concerning manglements treatment toward the pilot group. We are comfortable with our job (generally speaking) and dont have a collective spine to stand up to the BS and make things much better than they are. We should be leading the fight for a better contract, but instead "we" fly draft during peak, OT as much as we can, and DPs, among other things.

I could be wrong in my assessment, but after being here for so long, I dont think so.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm reminded of this old letter to Ted from a different time.
