LHR and CDG
Hi all,
I'm taking my kids this summer for 4 days in LHR and 4 days in CDG. I'm fairly familiar with CDG. Not familiar at all with LHR.
So, where to stay? Hotels or areas? What to do? Kids are all almost adults. How to get from LHR to the city? Etc Etc.....
All info is appreciated......

There's a Marriott right near the South Kensington (30 min) stop from LHR; not perfect location but in a nice area (Kendington) and you can walk or tube it every where you need to go. Greenwich would be great for kids- nice village feel, maritime museum, the Greenwich Observatory, Prime Meridian. You change from the Tube to the Greenwich DLR at the Tower, also good. Last time, I did the Tower Bridge tour--fun. Red Fort near SoHo is good Indian food, Belgo near Covent Garden is also fun. The buskers doing all sorts of tricks would be great for kids, if they're not shy the magicians usually get them involved. Covent Garden is sorta like Fanueil Hall in BOS. Of course, all the touristy things--Buckingham, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus. They best like walking.

I would stay on the Westend. Mayfair, Kensington, Chelsea, Paddington or Hyde. Prepare for Sticker Shock. The British LB is 1.5 to the $. I would get online and find a B &B in one of the Above areas.
Like a previous Poster said. Once in town at any Major Station, Buy a Tourist 2-5 Day Rail pass. Good for local Trains and Tubes. London is as easy to get around as Paris is by Tube or Rail.
Things to do:
The Hop on Hop off Bus is always a great way to quickly see the Major tourist sights as well as get your bearings. I generally do this in a town I haven't been to before as I get a glimpse of everything and then can decide on what I want and do not want to see. Also on Day 1 it helps to see and watch when you and the Fam is jet Lagged.
Standard Sites:
Buckingham Palace
Changing of the Horse Guard at St James
Tower of London
War Room (Churchill's Bunker)
Westminister
Hyde Park
St Paul's Cathedral
Tate Museum
London eye for nice View
Avoid Madame Tussuad's Tourist Rip Off
If I were you, I'd get out of London 1 day. take a day trips to
Dover
Windsor
Stone Henge
I assume you are planning on taking the EuroStar Train to Paris (to from Paris). If not I would highly recommend it.
Have Fun
