FDX Third quarter earnings

FedEx—The company earned $2.01 per share for its third quarter, beating estimates by 14 cents a share. Revenue was just slightly below estimates, as was the company's full-year guidance, but its commentary was generally upbeat and analysts have pointed out that FedEx guidance tends to be on the conservative side.

Contract now!

Amen!! But the company will keep crying the "no money" blues, in an attempt to avoid paying us what we have earned, and deserve. SMDH

Bankruptcy or profit, what's the difference?

Either way they claim there's no money and we have to accept a concessionary contract.

Friends don't let Friends come to FedEx. Go Delta.

FedEx reported $11.7 billion in third quarter fiscal 2015 revenue, a 4% increase over revenue reported this time last year but a hair lower than the $11.8 billion analyst consensus. Net income for the quarter came in at $580 million and resulted in earnings of $2.01 per share — a figure that easily beat the $1.88 Wall Street estimate and marked a 63% surge over earnings per share reported for the year-ago quarter.

Seriously? EPS up 63%? Well, I'm glad somebody is benefiting from our labors and efforts. Too bad it's not actually the people who are doing the laboring, and putting forth the efforts. Every single day, and every single night, every night and day of the year. SMDH, again, and again, and again..........

Earnings were up, but revenue was flat. That means they are increasing earnings by cutting costs, At Our Expense, mostly.

Article in today's Commercial Appeal. Here is the abbreviated version. The actual headline in the paper says "FedEx predicts record earnings in '15, '16" and the subhead is "Bonuses likely coming"

Peak season lifts FedEx profits - The Commercial Appeal

The most important paragraph in the article that you can't see unless you are a subsubscriber is this:

"Officials said a long overdue improvement in incentive compensation programs at the Memphis coming is coming and could affect as many as 255,000 employees world-wide. Most of the 30,000 employees in Memphis are eligible for incentive pay, FedEx spokesman Jess Bunn said."

Basically, "bonuses for all my friends!"...well, except you guys.

Are you kidding me? Contract NOW!

Years ago the pilot group use to participate in the profit sharing program at FedEx. Some years were good, some years not so good. It was my understanding that we took the guaranteed 7% contribution to the B fund and gave up the profit sharing. So, regardless of how the company did we got 7% in addition to our pension contribution. Was this just an urban legend or is this what happened?

If you think the cost cutting is mostly at the pilots group expense you might want to think again:confused: Try working in mx too.

We did at one time participate in the profit sharing before the first contract. As a fairly new employee I remember the profit sharing checks were small. The B Fund has been better. Of course the company has been more profitable since then also.

There is only one way to describe their treatment of the pilots. Some might think it's a temporary condition during current contract talks but they haven't strayed from this strategy since I've been hired. It's well honed. When the non-pilot managers find new ways to tighten the screws they are amply rewarded with bonuses and promotions.

They are simply PUNITIVE.

Has anyone noticed how we got SWA business select after asking for it for several years? Some employees complained to their non-pilot manager so they got it approved. Was probably easy. Then someone figured out the pilots might get really mad if they were the only ones in the company not getting business select.

Labor Relations is so good at kicking the crap out of us they have to hold back when we start to go unconscious.
