UPS: All hiring's stopped
#111
I don't know anything about Ted Cruz and his love fest with Obamacare. Too busy doing hub turns. What I do know is that UPS will furlough again in a heartbeat if negotiations start heading south.

No MEF as well
Just imagine if we agreed that in exchange for only IPA instructors giving sim checks, line checks, and release to the line then we would contractually allow the company to use $60k ground instructors to teach sim. Then what would the nurps have for a job description?

FedEx application window opened again, United hiring over 1,000 more this year. Why anybody would apply to this deadend job is a mystery to me. Except for our IPA this place bites the big one. The whole nurp situation is so dang disgusting makes me want to vomit. Also if ups is saying that they don't plan in furloughing, it probably means they are planning it as we speak.
Ask the guys what happened last time UPS announced a furlough. They was a chief pilot meeting in Anchorage the week before where lick ball or maybe lead pipes told a room full of pilots that they had no intention of furloughing and then the following week they announce they plan to furlough.

You tell frontseat one thing and then are chatting with your buddy RQ? Supporting the EB would be to walk away from anything that guy has to say! Need proof, read what he thought about fatigue in the rebuttal statement he wrote to the FAA regarding 117 as it pertains to cargo pilots. How are we supposed to take anything you or he has to say seriously? When it comes to credibility, neither of you have any.

I think you guys overlooked this minor part of Lil J's post...
From an IPA EB member:
"During a recent Contract Negotiation Session, the company was asked directly if this postponement in hiring was related to our current staffing and is UPS currently considering another furlough. The answer from the company was NO.
It appears that our Airline Management was caught off guard with a new company wide hiring requirement from Atlanta that requires all departments to document and justify any new hiring throughout UPS.
I spoke with System Chief Pilot Roger Quinn last week and he told me that this was an unexpected and embarrassing situation that they were going to work through as quickly as possible and that they plan to reschedule those upcoming classes as soon as possible."

This caught my attention as well...so I [GASP] called the union, and [GASP] it was NOT a quote from an EB member.
I know it's a lot more fun to say...ask a NURP or angry young man, but I'm funny that way I guess.

Uh, yes it was. It came from a committee chair and was emailed to about two dozen volunteers one of which was me.

And I agree, RQ's statements on the record about fatigue and the way things are at UPS was dispicable. Truly makes you wonder how he can keep a straight face when dealing with line pilots. I fly the Airbus. I've done base trip lines. I've done the 1354 pairing numerous times. Cerea said it perfectly, "these schedules are killing me."
Nothing has changed since then. What's worse is Frontseat is actively undermining our EB. Evidently Shaggy agrees with him or I'm missing his point entirely.
