UPS - Invited to complete on line process
Got an email today from UPS as follows:
"Thank you for completing the application for the UPS pilot position. We would like for you to continue to the next step in our selection process which involves completing two on-line assessments. These assessments will determine which applicants are invited for an on-site interview. Please click on the link below to receive instructions and continue. Both assessments should take no more than an hour to complete." I understand this is part of the new 2007 application process. Has anyone taken the assessments or know what they are about? Any gouge material greatly appreciated! |
This is definitely new. Looks like you're the guinea pig here. Let everyone know what it's all about.

Please let us know what they ask

Took the "Assessment" this morning. Essentially it was 2 blocks of Psychological profile type yes/no questions (160 & 200 questions repectively in each block). It took me about 45 mins to accomplish. Questions ranged from: How to you percieve yourself (work ethic, relationships, appearance, etc), How do others see you, Do you get along and work well with others, etc.. Bottom line: same questions asked different ways, but looking for consistent answers. Obviously limited ablility to prep for it. Heck I took it cold & maybe that was the best way.
Talked to a few freinds @ UPS (very recent hires) & they knew nothing of this process either. End result was that Buzz Thompson from HR called me later in the afternoon to offer an interview. :) |
Congratulations and good luck!

Congrats and Good Luck. When did you first put your profile in? I assume you had one in prior to the recent 2007 "email".

I had an app on file last year that remained "active" & after getting the email everyone else got, I went in and filled out a 2007 app. I noticed yesterday after I got the call, my app had gone from"active" to "on file" at some point. What that means, I don't know. As for quals, I have 3700 TT, 1900 PIC in various C-130s. I don't think TT or PIC was key, but that I have a significant amount of overseas and flight test experience was.
Hope this helps & good luck to everyone. |

When did you post your orginial app? |
Congrats !!!
sounds like the unveiling of a new process ... |
Hello All,
After completing the assesment earlier this morning, I received the following message: "Thank You We have received your responses to the UPS pilot assessments. Unfortunately, we currently have many qualified applicants and will not be able to schedule you for additional testing at this time. Thank you for your interest in UPS." Also, my status changed from "active" to "on file." Best Wishes everyone! |
SGRogue: Can you tell us what your background is? Type and hours?
Thanks |

I never got an email from UPS to update my application. I did fill out another one so now I have one that says active and another that says on file. Not quite sure what this means either. The second application was different from my original one. Secondly, where do you put in your application information about overseas and flight test experience? |
Here we go on the answers:
Original app submitted in Sep 06 & re-accomplished with new format on 7 Jan 07. I never got an email asking me to re-apply. I got the same email saying "thank you, but the position has been filled" like everyone else did. Looking at other related posts, I guess I got lucky with not having any problems posting a new app. Background: USAF - AFSOC w/MC-130E/Hs (stationed Europe, Pacific, & Florida). Did OT&E for AFSOC for 2 years & just finishing up 5 years w/AFMC doing FCFs and DT&E (current & qualified in 20 variants of C-130). Section III (Additional Qualifications) of the Flight Crew Supplement was checked for each area of overseas experience and block immediately below asked for any other special aviation qualifications. This is where I put the test background, IP/EP, Ops Officer, & FSO quals. Hope this helps. If it makes any difference, I thought I had been lost in the new app shuffle too. |
