Default FDX vac min days off

If I have 5 days of carryover and take 14 days vacation in a 5 week bid month and protect min days off can they still give me training in that month? Its my due month.

Hey, to find out for sure, I'd contract crew futures. However, I'm pretty sure that vacation does not count for days worked, and that you will only be looked at as working five days that month. If you can't get a firm answer, I would definitely put in your training request dates so you don't get screwed. In fact, no matter what they or someone else tells you, I'd put in those date requests!

Reading this, I for some reason, thought of one of the unintended consequences of the sick note process management has implemented is that many more people will now call in sick in conjunction with their vacation or over a holiday.

Before they implemented the "get a note or get an advisory letter policy" the pain of getting the doctor's note was a disincentive to calling in sick over a holiday, within 24 hours of a vacation, across one's training, etc.

Now that you know you'll have to get a note, where before you might have gone to work not 100% (improperly!), people now are resigned to getting a note and following the FAA I'M SAFE process more rigorously (page 7 of the PDF http://www.faa.gov/news/safety_briefing/2014/media/sepoct2014.pdf ).

If you were to be sick on your training dates when following the FAA guidance rigorously, you would be charged no sick leave, and depending on your "points" and how close it was to your vacation, you may or may not need a sick note. Then the following month you would schedule your training under grace month.

Of course, if you're well, no worry about any of this....just sayin'.
