More MD-11's in 2007?
 

Is it true that UPS has "found" six more MD-11's to be delivered this year? For a total of 16? I heard this last night in the ASC. And if this is true, are they already in Freighter configuration. I would think they would have to be.

And another rumor was that the 747-4 Bid for ANC is going to be re-done for SDF instead. That would be nice.

Three of those six will be coming from World. UPS has leased three to them. Those leases are up later this year or early next.

I knew about the World Aircraft, but those are on a lease for at least two or three more years. The talk was the 6 are from China Eastern.

We are getting nine MDs out of conversion this calendar year, and a tenth the first week of 2008. We are buying used MDs as quickly as possible and sending them into storage until conversion slots become available. The choke point is the conversion process, there are plenty of airframes for sale out there...:)

Thanks for the info. The "New MD-11" Chief pilot was the one saying were getting 16 now. Oh well.

And the Bet is for a Steak dinner? And your saying the Bid well be cancelled and changed to SDF? I'm not going to take that bet. I agree with you.

I believe I'm the sucker who took you up on that bet. It will be worth it indeed to watch UPS scramble. Can you imagine how senior the -400 will be based in SDF?

16 MDs is the ****
 

Heard from the usual reliable source that 16 is the number. 2 are already configured (source unknown). The others will be converted at Singapore and 2 locations in the PRC. Don't ask me how I know. (bfg)
