Awesome!! Our MD-11s are getting old and tired, I think we need some -400's too.

It wouldn't surprise me if Fred came out next week with an announcement for 35 -400 Advanced Freighters. What our management does, yours does by a factor of 2!

Flying the new -400 freighter will be a dream for sure.

Is this order for the normal 747-400F or for the advanced -400ERF?

The normal 747-400F, however this is just the initial order. UPS is a notoriously conservative company, the word is there will be more orders and possibly some options.

meanwhile 13 years later........prob another 13 years to go....

I heard they stocked up on deferral stickers, the MD is now good for another 15 years !!!

According to two sources, Boeing is not taking orders for the 747-8. One cited a major production issue as the key reason. A supplier that provides a key component for the 747-8 is, apparently, withdrawing support for the programme, he said.
