Western Global Airlines LLC
Hi.. I am considering a position at Western Global Airlines and would like feedback on the position from you kind folks.
I have a friend who is working there and he says the Company is making improvements every day. For instance, he says they significantly increased the base pay just this week and improved various travel and duty issues he experienced in the past. He also said they have a two and four year $10K Loyalty Bonus and a new and very unique profit sharing program with all company personnel participating in the design and profits -they call it the Western Global Way..... Has anybody heard about this???? He says they have a pretty good insurance package and offer 401K but do not match yet -says he thinks the owner will provide matching in 2018.
His opinion is that Western has the potential to be very different from other ACMI carrier he has worked for in the past and says he plans to stick it out with them.
What kind of pilot makes a statement like this?????
The pay information he provided is as follows:
PAY RATES:
YR CAPT FO
1 $562 $382
2 $580 $395
3 $595 $405
4 $613 $417
5 $631 $430
6 $653 $444
7 $672 $457
8 $692 $471
9 $705 $479
10 $718 $488
11 $726 $494
12 $744 $506
GUARANTEE: 17 Days. Unlike the Atlas deal, he says you are paid from the time you leave your Home Base Airport until the time you arrive back at your Home Base Airport.
O/T Pay: 1.5 Times Base Rate for Days 19 & 20. 2.0 Times Base Rate for Days 21 and above.
Holiday Pay: 1.5 Times for Holidays worked.
Sick Days: .5 per month up to 32
BASE: Home Based.
Perhaps my friend is smoking something but he seems very sincere and is convinced the Company will be a great place to work for years to come. Any input you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

+1 I especially like the part where newb posts daily rate in lieu of hourly rate. Even if one gets paid for 17 days regardless whether or not they are away from base (i.e. sits reserve in base), one only has to do basic math compared with other APC rates to see that his friend is indeed smoking something.

[QUOTE=CargoJockey380;2365420]I was making a comparison to Atlas... A Company that some suggest is one of the better ACMI companies a pilot can work for.. Some friends have told me their guarantee is based on 17 days... Does the 17 Days include travel days?[/QUOTE
You are paid for your travel days. They are part of the 17 day guarantee. If you are scheduled to get home at 0001, you get paid for the day. If a delay causes you to go into the next day by 2 hours you are paid the extra day.

Thank you 80Z28Dude... I am still a little confused. I was told Atlas pays for the ticket from your Gateway City to your Base but your pay does not start until the first day scheduled at your Base which I understand is always 0001 then ends on the last Day scheduled back at your Base. I was also told that you had to be full legal to start at 0001 of your first day of duty at Base. This led me to believe that travel time to and from the Base does not count towards the 17 day guarantee nor does it count towards deadhead pay. Any clarification you can provide will be appreciated...
Also, can you tell me if Atlas is really suing their pilots? Can anybody provide background on the lawsuit?? Is it just a tough guy negotiating ploy by the Company??

It's a lot more complicated than the above. IF you are doing Gateway Travel, which is ONLY between your Gateway and your Base, then the above applies, but you don't always start your schedule at 0001 on day one.
My current schedule I am starting this rotation at about 1230z on day 2 (day 1.5 is R1, Home Reserve, no pay, which is crap). I am ORD based. This trip starts in DFW, and ends in JFK, so I am not travelling on my days off. It is a 4 day trip, all domestic.
Also, can you tell me if Atlas is really suing their pilots? AAWH is suing the union, because they were ill-advised. The details are in the thread below.

For most pilots, Atlas is better than WG, as are most aviation organizations. There are always exceptions, based on individual/family preferences.
Good luck with your job search!
Namaste...

Someone from Atlas will have to answer the Atlas questions. What works for me at WGA is the opportunity to work a lot if I want to and bring home some big checks, double time after 20 days. Upgrade can also come quickly if you are ready. The positioning travel still sucks, but you should get status on most of the majors in your first year. Normally travel is a stateside leg to somewhere like Dulles or Chicago and then a leg to Brussels, followed by a 1 to 2 hour taxi. Profit sharing is the plan, but is still a wild card since the plan has yet to be revealed.
