Be76flyer.. Thank you for the input.. I understand Atlas has a 401k with matching up to 5% but I am not clear on their profit sharing plan.. Does Atlas have a profit sharing plan?? If so, Do you have details that you can share?

Hi.. I am considering a position at Western Global Airlines and would like feedback on the position from you kind folks.

I have a friend who is working there and he says the Company is making improvements every day. For instance, he says they significantly increased the base pay just this week and improved various travel and duty issues he experienced in the past. He also said they have a two and four year $10K Loyalty Bonus and a new and very unique profit sharing program with all company personnel participating in the design and profits -they call it the Western Global Way..... Has anybody heard about this???? He says they have a pretty good insurance package and offer 401K but do not match yet -says he thinks the owner will provide matching in 2018.

His opinion is that Western has the potential to be very different from other ACMI carrier he has worked for in the past and says he plans to stick it out with them.

What kind of pilot makes a statement like this?????

The pay information he provided is as follows:

PAY RATES:

YR CAPT FO
1 $562 $382
2 $580 $395
3 $595 $405
4 $613 $417
5 $631 $430
6 $653 $444
7 $672 $457
8 $692 $471
9 $705 $479
10 $718 $488
11 $726 $494
12 $744 $506

GUARANTEE: 17 Days. Unlike the Atlas deal, he says you are paid from the time you leave your Home Base Airport until the time you arrive back at your Home Base Airport.

O/T Pay: 1.5 Times Base Rate for Days 19 & 20. 2.0 Times Base Rate for Days 21 and above.

Holiday Pay: 1.5 Times for Holidays worked.

Sick Days: .5 per month up to 32

BASE: Home Based.

Perhaps my friend is smoking something but he seems very sincere and is convinced the Company will be a great place to work for years to come. Any input you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sounds great, you should apply, they need more idiots. Oh wait, they need pilots, and you're obviously not one.

I suppose if one were left home on min guarantee WGA would be a better bet. But that's probably not going to happen. In 6 years at Southern, I was only left at home between type rides and IOE. So it is on the rare side.

As a newhire, if you're flying the 78 hours a month a typical Atlas pilot does, the gross is $6200, but if you're out the full 17 days, trip rig will pay $6700. If you end up with a 90 hour month its $7200. At Southern, an average trip on the 777 was 39 hours in 7 days - one trip around the world. $3100 vs $2675 for 7 days work at WGA.

And travel is nothing to scoff at. Deadheading from the US east coast to Africa in coach for $382 a day is a pay rate of about $30 an hour, $23 an hour from the west coast. If Atlas DHs you to Africa you're going in Business or better, at full pay. That 12 hour trip will change your mind about how great the deal is. (Been there. Done that. My back still hurts.)

Southern 737 guys were bailing for WGA, entering at 4th year CA pay, because enduring SA's 737 operation was worse than enduring middle seat coach to Africa. They were breaking even on pay. Nobody was leaving a widebody seat at SA to go to WGA. Lots of SA guys left their widebody jobs to cross the street to Atlas.

Southern was a Neff operation when I got there. Based on over two decades of past practice, WGA is not going to get any better. They may slap some lipstick on it and sell it to a sucker. More likely, a trip through bankruptcy will leave their creditors and crews in the lurch. Again. But if there is another war they will have plenty of business, while other carriers furlough. The terms and conditions they offer aircrew will not substantially improve. Ever.

If it is better than your gig now, and you want to have an adventure flying heavy jets in exotic places, by all means jump in. Don't think it is going to be a better gig than Atlas. Also, don't fool yourself into thinking its going to ever get much better than it is now. ACMI carriers are the regionals of the cargo world. You don't carry your own freight. You don't own your own future. Most of the time you don't even have your own call sign. You will get quite proficient using the QRH. Your PCs will be uneventful compared to flying antiquated aircraft, held together with 100mph tape, bailing wire, and happy thoughts to remote destinations (remote = no spare parts on hand) with no local support on the ground. That's what it is.

Atlas "Profit Sharing"... not really.
It is Atlas Air profit sharing, instead of profits from AAWH.
For example, if AAWH decides to take all of the Atlas Air profit, and use it to buy new aircraft for AAWH, then there is 0 profit, and 0 profit sharing.
The current system allows the company to change an Atlas Air profit, into no profit.

Okra is a basher with no valuable input? Try to pay attention here. There is a very good reason why WGA is having trouble attracting pilots. Pay attention as to why and not what some bull**** artist tells you what is "really" going on. I agree with Orka in that it gets frustrating. Reading the same old pie in the sky dribble from pilots who suddenly think that they have discovered the next Jet Blue or Southwest. You have not this time. Aviation is a business run by businessmen. The first time you forget that you will get burned. WGA is not a good choice right now or in th.e foreseeable future. I know this because I have had friends there, one of whom quit without a job to go to. The difference between Orka and I, is that I have more class in my writings

Looking at your posts, you must think we are all a bunch of imbeciles if you think you can post as a pilot interested in WGA, when in fact you are WGA management advertising for your company.

That's what another poster was trying to say. Cargojet-donkey is mucho slow. Definitely a mgmt troll. Western gloryhole is nothing more then a 36th street airline.

End of topic.
