Second year hourly is $163 in that seat. Min pay for reserves would be about 950 hours per year but would most likely be over 1000 unless the guy sat home every month (unlikely now). +$8 per hour on international trips (or every trip out of ANC)

I have a good friend who is a sim instructor and LCA with Western and he is satisfied with the company. He did not mention the pay but has no problems. Western's contract with FedEx has been extended through May.

They can work you up the max per month and you get nothing extra. Starting Capt pay per day is $340 and FO is $226 per day. 150% pay starts after the 20th day. So first year flying a heavy MD-11 or 747-400 as a Captain is $65,280 and FO $43,292 The rates are the same on the MD-11 or 747-400. Max Captain pay is year 15 at $117,000. Crews are home based non CASS....What do you all think?
$65,280 for a 747 captain?! Hahahaha.
I make twice that as a second year FO, with 24 days of vacation!

I don't imagine you always had that. Be grateful since there aren't any guarantees it won't change for the worse. Maybe they won't get any takers and have to raise it. Sadly, usually there's always someone out there furloughed, fired or with enough skeletons that they're willing to take what's available.

I am very grateful. I've been furloughed. I know unemployment. I've taken jobs stocking shelves when I couldn't get a decent pilot position.
My intention wasn't too brag, it was to point out how obscene it is someone can make double that salary as an FO. Shoot, I made more than that at Southern as an FO. It's deplorable.

Unfortunately, you're right, they will get takers.

They have regional guys beating down their door to fly a wide-body.

Not exactly a large group beating down the doors. Last two classes of 12 had 10 make it through the door and 7 or 8 finish training. Neff should be happy as he believes in the free market and no one is coming at his price.

They haven't lied to me yet today.....

If you are a regional guy looking for a shortcut to a major, ACMI is not it.
ACMI has several features which may be attractive to the right person. i.e. Long flights to foreign locations, per diem for 20 days, mostly really good co-workers, it doesn't take invasion-level preparations to go to the john in flight.

But you will get to a major faster by staying put, or if an upgrade is not looking good where you are, by jumping to another regional looking for DECs.

ACMI isn't a dead end, but it is a cul-de-sac. You can get by comfortably at one, but it won't take you anywhere.
