Because 17-20 days away from home is garbage for QOL.

Is this a serious question? Well, actually, I see now that it isn't a question at all, as questions end with a question mark.

Assuming it is, it's a personal decision of which the individual may have many answers, such as:

Not flying ACMI
Having a schedule that never changes
Never being ridiculously jetlagged
Being home every week
More money
Domiciled where they live and no imputed income
Quicker upgrade

Just a few ideas.... "Flying a 747 all over the world" isn't for everyone.

Then, I have a buddy who recently got the invite, RJ FO with no internal recs or TPIC, nada, just sudden email. But, he never responded either, as he already has a class date at JB. It's a little disheartening.

Still though, good news is good news. Maybe someday.
Totally. I tried to get on there for years. 747 time etc. Just talked to a regional FO with zero PIC, zero recs, get an interview.

This. He lives in a JB base and doesn't like to be gone more than a couple days at a time.
