Oh, didn't know I have followers even on pilot forums. Like the guy said, I don't think it hurts to have interest in different places. I mean, this forum is here because of people's interest in different company and have pilots working in the company to share info so we can decide which one's a better fit. Since you were following every post I made, I'm sure read that I was seeking advice from pilots working for kallitta on what's the fastest route to get there, based on their experience. That's planning ahead buddy. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Getting info ahead just like you probably what you were doing before. Well, if you're working for empire (ohana air) at HNL, hoping you could share some info, appreciate the help. if not, and you're just here to make unrelated responses, then I have nothing else to say. Feel free to still follow me though.
Thank you

More interested ohana at HNL, just wanted to know a few things. Do they hire street captains? Do you get to tell them that you want to do the ohana flying pax instead of cargo with empire? How's the first year captain pay with the living expenses in hawaii, is it enough?
Thank you

The upgrade depends on where you are at now. As for Empire Cargo to Ohana, you would be able to move laterally assuming there are openings.

I saw a post on LinkedIn a few days ago that Ohana rates are now 60k base pay and 5k sign on and 12k retention for new hires! I guess HAL is ponying up....if that's the case it would be industry leading and by some margin...makes me reconsider moving back home to HI.

Love Hawaii
I've always wanted to live and fly there. I was seriously thinking about Empire/Ohana or Island Air but damn its expensive in Hawaii. I guess you can network with others of course but I think all the money they are throwing at it now would quickly vanish.
I don't believe Hawaii has state income tax though?
You'll need an apartment, 2000$ plus for decent, and a car. Utilities are expensive as well as food so figure 3000$ a month to live. Great thread on the Hawaiian Airlines board.
Tickets on HAL are nice but I assume it's coach?
My wife is keen but for the cost of living and the traffic (and noise) is it really worth it?
Funny enough that you can make a lot more flying a turboprop than flying a 737 for TA. I've read all about TA in Hawaii and it's pretty much true.
I am assuming the airlines in HA are having troubles because of being so overly expensive and of course all the hiring on the mainland.
So sad
