Retro/bonus

Was looking at my bank account and the retro/ bonus looks like it was deposited. However we should have been paid mid month too? Or does that go in tonight?

Retro/bonus

I got paid both. Maybe you were like me and it seemed low. Then I remembered I live in the US and Virginia and I pay 28% in taxes overall...

I logged on to ADP I-PAY and looked at my pay stub. It was all there. You know how to do that, right?

Mine was just included with my normal MM pay on the same stub.

Not as big as you thought it was gonna be, huh? I can understand the disappointment.

Had my numbers mixed up. Amount I was thinking was before taxes. Did not help that I lost 19 hrs credit due to a bad commute. Two 757 went down causing me to miss my trip. No harm no foul and I can make up the hrs.

I am use to hearing smaller than I thought! Now that I am married the wife is use to less is better!

PurpleToolBox 12-15-2015 07:14 PM

I know it's water under the bridge, but we gave in so quickly and we gave up so much.

YES, the check seems very small.

Yes, and we get to say that about our pension checks for the rest of our lives.

VSTOLG4 12-15-2015 11:07 PM

The retro as a "whole" number looks pretty good on paper...not great but pretty good. By the time you chop it into 3 payments, add it to your paycheck and subtract your withholdings your left feeling a little bit meh. Money is still money but the "whole" number looked a lot more substantial.

Buyer's remorse has barely even started.

I get that same feeling about every two weeks when I look at my gross pay and compare it to what actually shows up in my bank account.
Maybe next contract our NC will find a way to make each one of us a tax free charity. For all the misery I'm reading about from guys who are suffering with their horrible pay and benefits at FedEx, I'm sure there has to be some way to turn us into one of those late night infomercials with the sad music, tired sounding celebrity voice, and a destitute looking FedEx pilot holding up his measly after tax, signing bonus check.
"Won't you help this poor man out? His income level puts him at a tax rate that is bleeding him dry. Just look at what's left of his bonus check. How is he still feeding his family?!? Your contribution of a few dollars, or a warm blanket will change his life forever. Will you help?"

I'm never going to feel guilty, nor do I think any of us should, for the money we make. Nice try though.

Search "ADP" on PFC homepage. 3rd search result will provide you the link to the registration guide.

I don't feel guilty either. And I'd be happy to get even more. But in the meantime, I'm actually enjoying life with what I've got. Living in this country, with our incomes, you almost have to put more effort into making yourself miserable than you do to have fun. But to each his own.

And after you register there is an ADP App.

As long as we're b*tching and whining ...

... about the checks we received as "back pay."

When you go on Long Term Disability the Company continues to pay your benefits (at their cost) for 90 days. The program assumes that you're coming back one day. When you return to work, the company takes their many back over a 12 month time period. Quite frankly, I thought that was a rather nice gesture.

"If" you receive any sort of bonus they take their money back from that income. So ... I know I owe them money but for those of you that think taxes took a big bite out of your "bonus," it could be worse.

Happy Holidays everyone!

:D

Awesome! Thanks. :)

Living in VA also; and I thought/was waiting for another check just for the 15th amount. The deposit that was made was quite less than the retro amount.

I wonder if 2 deposits were made instead of one, would the tax bracket have been that much less, therefore getting a little more take home.

Rock you're a reasonable guy and poster. That plus I'm not the usual fly off the handle get ****ed about everything type internet poster that we have far too much of (in general, not just here). So I have no interest in getting in a ****ing contest.

You made a post related to feeling guilty for the money we make. I don't. That doesn't mean I'm miserable or in any way unhappy. In fact quite the opposite. You won't find a happier guy with my life or job. I know many of my fellow pilots who are just the same. Doesn't mean I/we agree with getting paid marginally less throughout the years to do the same job, or not getting full back pay.

That's funny right there.

I would've expected a post like that from Walrus.

It was exactly the 55% they said it would be.

For the second part, no idea.

Answer: Not really.

The real reason it looks smaller than a normal paycheck of the same gross amount is due to the federal withholding rate. FedEx, like most companies, considers things like signing bonus, vacation buy back, and other non-paycheck payments as supplemental payments for tax purposes. They apply a flat 25% withholding rate  to the amount left after pre-tax items are deducted (401k, etc) aka federal taxable wages.

The invitation to avoid a ****ing contest is happily accepted. Life is too short. And .0003% of my net bonus check is reserved in your name to buy you a beer if we ever randomly run into each other with name tags emblazoned with our APC pseudonyms.

Oh man, I thought I was going to catch you in a bad guestimate, but my calculator says that's about $4.50. Dang! That could buy a decent draft beer.:D

Are they doing that correctly? Will my Accountant be able to fix it when I file and spread that extra withholding to my total tax payment? Thanks for explaining what happened...

Not even close Tony. The speedboat is amazing. Used the bonus to buy accessories like a built in humidor. Yeti cooler. Mahogany was book matched and the finish is deep, glossy, and chicks love the sun deck.:D

Everytime you spout some of that crap....I'm going to remind you of the Awesome Speed Boats a bunch of us got with a group pricing rate. We sold our future for immediate gratification and we are proud of it. We got ours and we'll burn thru it now. Even though we are not nearly as intellectually as savvy as you, your entire career, future, and retirement are in the hands of guys like us and we cancel your vote. Over and over and over.

Don't feel bad, I have the same lack of control considering what both the Rs and D's did with the budget deal the other day.

So choose to be snarky and I'll remind you about how guys like me screwed you....and were happy about it....and you HAVE to live with it....or we could keep our pie holes shut...press on...work together ...like you expected me to do if your viewpoint won.

You accused me of gloating.....and I will gloat every time you bi?ch!
That was the original point.

Really?
while I was a no voter I simply asked guys to read the contract and vote their wishes that is all and I acknowledge there a few good things in this contract. However there are many many flaws in this contract that need to be exposed !!!

Yes, Really!....I am tired of the nattering nabobs of negativism. We need to point out the pitfalls so we can sidestep them, but quite frankly, TonyC and other's are getting to the point where they are marginalizing themselves. The name calling and permanent sour face are old.

Tony didn't ask guys to read the contract and vote what they thought was best, he asked them to read the contract, and agree with him. He's irritated that 57% did not.

Albief15 12-17-2015 06:20 PM

Met an MD11 captain in the CAN hotel yesterday who was mentioning how nice the DH to ICN was in business. It was not just FDA pilots who benefited from the better class of international DHs.

I hope we can work around this UAL disaster. I am going to follow up with rep for the latest. At the same time, I DH twice a year to the states, but DH around Asia two or three times a month. I know saying "hey, there are some good things in this deal" makes me a heretic on the boards, but there are some wins in this deal too. I am frustrated that I'll have about $2500 of bank money going to waste with no ability to roll it over yet, but that will come eventually. When it does, I think a lot of commuters are going to have a much easier time getting to work.
