H. Schedule new FO's for IOE with Captains that are not Check airmen.
You forgot the nasty, hateful phone call from Scheduling then management demanding to know why you are refusing to fly with said OE F/O... When you explain to them that you didn't know you were OE qualified, they nastily hang up, and reassign you to a crappy trip you didn't want. When you show up for said trip, you realize that the new F/O is also on OE...... Why bother to explain anything to anyone...

Is MR back in charge of Scheduling? Sure sounds like it, or at least some of his proteges.

Wow that does sound pretty bad........of course about 75% of what 18Wheeler pointed out sounds spot on with some AF airlift squadrons. Keeps it interesting I guess. Too bad though, it sounded like they were off to a good start. Maybe Southern is growing too quick?

Good luck to you as well 18fr82hub!!

No. Richard Macri (X Tower Air ?) and Yolanda Philbert (X North American ?)
share credit for the current scheduling debacle.

Wow, can anybody clarify the whole gone for up to 30 days situation. Not a wife friendly airline huh? Is that common, what's your schedule like? Also what kind of experience/times do new hires have?

I came on-line in Oct. of '06 for SA and have never been home more than 10 days in a month. They are very short FO's due to poor utilization and many leaving so they extend me almost every month. The extensions are fairly compensated ($$) but now I am home only 1 week out of the month average. The crews are great and the flying is very enjoyable but it has destroyed my home life. Home basing is nice, but your only there for 1 week. IF YOU ARE ANY THING BUT SINGLE I DONT RECOMMEND SOUTHERN AIR. I was out 32 days in a row (not by choice) and spent 12 straight in a hotel in Seoul. Dont even think about SA if you have kids. The guys who are happiest here are the ones with girlfriends all over the world. If your single you'll love it.

Indyair Guy- how many days are you scheduled to work without the extensions? Also, SA is hiring a class full of FOs next month. Do you think that will help resolve the shortage? I'm trying to figure out if there's any hope that things will get better.

The company owns you for 20 days a month. You receive 10 guaranteed days off a month. Or you are supposed to.

Yeah, I understand that. I have a few friends (CA & FE's) there told me that in reality you work 16-17 days and there are a few reserve (at home) days to bring you up to 20. IndyAir Guy's post leads me to believe that this may not be true for the FO's.
