A330-200 freighter mod?

Don't know much about Airbus aircraft, so how does an A330-200 compare to a 767 or a 777? Something in-between?

Just curious if this mod would be something fdx and ups might be interested in?
(I'm hoping they'd pick 767s or 777s instead.)

It compares very favorably to the 767 except it takes up more ramp space with it's longer wingspan.

Curious why you'd rather have 76 or 77?

Airbus produced A330 freighters, but it required a bulbous nose gear pod. Airbus resisted doing a real P2F mod for years, instead wanting buyers to purchase new production freighters. Not until Al Baker at Emirates and FedEx started buying Boeing freighters did Airbus finally realize they needed to produce a mod. The other motivation for them now is that, if there is a market for a pax 330 to be converted, then those pax airlines can buy a new production A350 and find a buyer for the used A330.

The problem with the A330 is it has a nose down stance on the ramp. So, the production freighter had the nose gear attachment point lowered and to accommodate that, they have the pod under the nose. The question is, how has Airbus addressed this in the P2F? Rumor is they are going to use a powered roller system. That creates issues for FedEx. If that system breaks down, it will become very hard to load the aircraft.

We had powered roller systems in the bellies of some of our 767. They were all removed.

The A330F only has one more main deck container position than the A300 does, and only 1 maybe 2 lower deck positions.

Honestly no good reasons except I've flown the 76 and loved it and have only heard good things about the 777.

I would assume that's because it's based off the A330-200, not the -300? Seems like a 330-300 P2F mod would have capacity similar to our MD's.

In addition the A330 has significantly more range than the A300.

A DC-3 has more range than an A-300! And comparable speed

That's fine with me, keeps us from doing those cross the country every night routes like the Domestic guys do! I'm fine with SDF LCK ORD or SDF PIA RFD. In fact I wonder why we put the gear up on that one! [emoji12]
