Default Santo Domingo Transport warnings

Whoever is your transport for pickup from the SDQ airport to your hotel, make sure the driver DOES NOT STOP anywhere along the way, especially in BOCA CHICA area ............... Got reports of some airline crews that were almost held up except that they made a run from the would-be BANDIDOS, robbers.
This is especially dangerous during late night transport to your hotels .........

I am Dominican guys and gals and I love the island for sure, but be careful during the transport to and from the hotel to the airport, many crimes along la Autopista de las Americas. Also if you are going out for a night on the town, arrange transportation to and from the club or bar where you are going to.

May I humbly add to this, as I just had a couple overnights in Santo Domingo - make sure that you have a rough idea of WHERE the hotel is. Our cab driver went on an 11:30pm driving rampage and was all over the city, and I was seriously concerned for a while as if he was actully taking us to the hotel, or to our demise. Having a prior education as to what direction you should be heading will help ask questions if something isn't right.
