Are there any tour companies that go to the JW Marriott in Lima, I believe Miraflores district??

Looking for both half and full day options for tours, temples, ruins, or anything historical.

Any other recommendations?

I've done Lima a few times, not ever finding much to do.

Good question. I’ve had similar experience in Lima...kinda boring.

Also, I read travel blog a few years ago that talked about a central market, much larger and diverse than the Zona Azul. Supposedly, that is where a lot of the merchants at the ZA, buy their goods.

Can’t find it now, though. If anyone knows pease chime in.

Maybe the market you’re referencing is Polvos Azules. It’s kind of a cheap shopping mall with lots and lots of different little stalls selling everything from clothes to sneakers to electronis to artwork. Across the street from the Sheraton.

In Miraflores, there’s a great Peruvian restaurant worth going to called La Mar. It’s only open for lunch- try to get there early since there’s usually a wait. Great ceviche.

Pol os Azules, is in Miraflores. That’s the market I’ve gone to in the past. Locals tell me the prices are inflated for tourists, and there is a better variety in the other market I’m looking for.

There are two Polvos Azules then. The one I’m talking about is not in Miraflores. It’s pretty much across the street from the Sheraton, about 30 minutes from Miraflores (in Lima traffic).

Restaurants

Central or Centro? It's in the top 20 in the world. 4 hour tasting menu was like 140 bucks. Good but very long. Need reservations 3 months ahead when I went.

La Mar was great for lunch. Sushi the was awesome. Ceviche amazing.

Nikkei Peruvian food was great. Maido was amazing. Someone mentioned Matsui but I haven't tried it.

La Lucha is a sandwich chain. Sort of like an upscale subways. Absolutely freaking delicious. I stopped and got sandwiches for the trip to the airport on the way out.

Try Cuy while you're there. It's a bit fatty but I liked it.

Tons of places in Miraflores bars clubs e.t.c. if you speak Spanish Barranco is close by and more locals. A lot of bars clubs e.t.c. but watch out for pick pockets and drunk guys just looking to pick a fight.

As far as tours etc. I found the interior of Peru to be more fun. Cusco Machu Picchu e.t.c.

Cusco there's a hotel built over the ruins of the Incan palace. The Dominican order of the catholic church is based next door. The church / seminary is built over the Incan temple.

I had an English speaking tour guide and ditched him. I tagged along with a Spanish speaking tour guide. 2 different sides of history, very eye opening.

There's a lot of tours from Cusco to lesser known ruins. Those were awesome with a tour guide but you have to speak Spanish. The English speaking tour guides are all hit or miss.
