Not enough charter lift
|
This why we're busy all the time! Fly a professional team, dump them off, go pick up NCAA team dump them off, return to city with professional team.
|
Middle man companies like PASS and Anthony Travel are going to have a real hard time finding lift for their customers.

The nice thing about legacies doing these high profile charters is that if your Boeing or Airbus experiences a mechanical sitting on the FBO ramp, you just send another Boeing or Airbus. Take one 737 out of service at any charter outfit and the cascading effects are remarkable for days.

The mainline carriers seem to float in and out of the charter market. When they are in, the Supplemental carriers suffer. When they go out of the market, there's reduced supplemental lift to cover. I've seen this cycle numerous times with both military and civilian charters. |
Interesting
I would think Xtra, Swift, Miami Air and Eastern, would love the news. It could be though, pricing! I am sure there are budgets and as 737-300s/400s wind down, the cost of an 800, smaller would be no use, is a bit more expensive. A D.O. from a charter carrier told me 800s are indeed expensive which may be why Xtra AND Swift are holding onto older models for now.
And a new 121 startup, Diamond Air, with 737s, is coming. I want to resurrect ONA. After reading their history, "35 miles from shore", what could go wrong??? I'll be hiring for the L188, DC9, DC8 and DC10. New York base with lots of Hadj and Africa charters. Apply early to get a quick command! Whos in? It keeps saying my inbox is empty. |
