Doesn’t Omni pay for your hotel during interview?

The way it’s worded in the CBA:

Pursuant to the provisions of this Section, the Company shall provide Gateway Travel from a Crewmember's Gateway Travel Airport to a domestic (forty-eight (48) contiguous United States) duty assignment or to a domestic airport of departure for an international assignment.

The Company shall designate the airports to and from which Gateway Travel shall be provided to Eligible Crewmembers. There shall be no minimum or maximum number of airports so designated. To qualify for designation as a Gateway Travel Airport, the airport must have sufficient commercial FAR Part 121 air carrier service so as to provide competitive airfares. The Company shall consider input provided by the Union regarding adding or deleting Gateway Travel Airports, with the intent to provide airports that are convenient for the Crewmember while at the same time afford the Company the ability to minimize the cost of providing Gateway Travel.

Theoretically if they stick to the 48 contiguous rule (which they do) SJU, BQN or any other airport in San Juan won't qualify. As AviatorHi mentioned there are ways to make it work in your favor but not something to bank on.

The hotel is paid for, or at least it was a couple of months ago.

It is.

The guy/gal was talking about spending money for an extra night in the hotel. For any that any that might have misread it. Not saying you did.

Default Is Puerto Rico (BQN or SJU) Home Base ?

Thanks everybody for the replies, comments and speculations, but I already found a straight answer from OMNI today. I would like to share what they told me just for future reference if anybody needs it. This is what they said :

"We have home basing for pilots; however, Puerto Rico is not included. We have several that live there and use Miami as their gateway city (their responsibility to get to the nearest gateway city).

Does that help or change your mind in considering an opportunity with us? Let me know if you have any further questions."

Regards,

Angela

Greetings all. Brand new to APC, but long time lurker. Getting ready to make the big transition from Mil Life to Civilian Life. I received an invite to Omni for an interview next month and I’m very excited. If someone with recent interview experience with Omni would share their information, I would be eternally grateful.

Also, for those of you who’ve been working with Omni for a while would like to share your thoughts and opinions on the company with me, I’d love to hear them. From what I’ve read so far on some of these posts, I think Omni might be a great fit for me. I really don’t want to live in a big hub and being away for two weeks at a time won’t be too difficult for me or the family. Any and all PMs will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for you help I hope I get a chance to be a part of the team!

So your career as an international airline pilot is predicated on living in PR? You also are applying for jobs and you need to invest in a suit and possibly overnight accommodations for an interview at a 6 figure job? OMG, this is like, totally fascist or something...

You don't know the circumstances that require said individual to live in Puerto Rico. It is honestly no ones concern but the poster. The poster never indicated that they weren't willing to invest in a potential 6 figure career. Poster just wanted to know if the PR base was possible so they don't waste Omni or their time.

Don't be quick to jump to conclusions!

Default Is Puerto Rico Home Base ?

Hello everyone; just wanted to share my decision regarding my interview with OMNI. I decided NOT to go and simply cancel the interview so someone else can get that spot on the same day (according to OMNI they take 10 candidates per day). My decision not to go was based on the fact that Puerto Rico (BQN or SJU) can't be used as a possible base or gate way. I cannot move for the moment to the continuous US for now. By the way first year pay is NOT a six figure pay, according Airline Pilot Central info on OMNI, pay is about $7,232 per moth X 12 = $86,784 first year; minus about 2 months of training pay and minus income tax, social security 401K, medicare, etc.
