Status quo has been the name of the game here.

Thats why some guys get 300% and some get none.

Thats why some become check airman and some dont.

This place isn't changing.

The people that wear the most hats CAN’T affect change.

How many hats do you wear? Alot I know.

Swift isnt small anymore. Its big. We are growing and the unqualified people in GSO have absolutely no idea how to adapt.

Where is the lie in anything said?

People arent trashing Swift, Swift trashes itself.

Then you come on here running damage control for an entity that could care less about advancement.

Dont get mad at the pilots on here thats have been absolutely consistent when it comes to the complaints.

Those Delta pilots complain about new issues, the claims here have stayed consistent and have gone unaddressed.

Wheres the lie?

Do people get promoted out of favoritism here? Yes

Is there captain pay protection? For a select few, Yes.

Has anyone in our 119 come from a functional 121 airline? No.

Wheres the lie?

Do we have suspect captains here? Yes

Do we have people that meet paper qualifications but cant perform? Yes

Do those two groups exist at the usual rate at most other airlines? Hell no.

Wheres the lie?

Can a Swift pilot turn down an aircraft? Ha.

Whens the last time thats happened?

Does a pilot spend all day working for only a few hours of pay? YES. The other day I had an insane FDP for only 3 hours of block pay.

Wheres the lie?

Better question, wheres the improvement?

Who is making this place better? All you guys that get the good stuff are blind and one-sided because youre getting a piece of the cake!

How do you get to leave a company and come back with your seniority?

How did you (not Mexi) get to be promoted to check airman when theres individuals that have much more 737 time and have much more 121 experience?

How do captains that do the dumbest $#!t still have jobs here?

Why does the company not care about investing in airline software and payroll software?

Payroll issues arent fixed because they arent addressed. Whats up with that?

Wheres the lie in any of that?

There is discrimination (not particularly of race) here.

Swift doesnt want to be legitimate because legitimacy comes at great cost.

Hey did the COO ever get back to us about pay? Or is there more speculation of good things coming...

Wheres the lie or deception in any of that?

RR

I don’t know whose getting pay protection as a captain and being an FO. Novel concept but yeah haven’t seen that yet.

Still waiting for COO to come out, asked about it today. Looks like he’s still coming out here.

The overtime deal around here is up and down because there’s nothing in writing to control it. We have very basic work rules ultimately that’s it. That’s how we can sit at an airport not fly and not get paid.

They have ADP for payroll, but blue one doesn’t talk to the current system. This is why we have to send stuff via paper still. They invest in something because it’s the less costlier option, but in the end it probably was worse. I’m an advocate for Sabre, but they tell me it’s too expensive.

We are non union, so in a way our rules are derived off 117, FAA rules and the little flight crew addendum we have. We’re like Skywest in a way because those guys bend the rules all the time too. Unions sadly are a necessary evil in this industry. However even if one came to town tomorrow it would be a while before it would benefit us before a cba is agreed to.

Again being non union they can change things at will within the scope of legality, p121 etc. It’s the nature of the beast. Has it got better? Yes! Do we still have issues systemwide absolutely. This job isn’t for just anyone, it is truly a 135 on steroids and it takes a lot of will power and pro-activity to be ahead of the game. But I will say it’s made me a better leader and pilot in the process. Have definitely learned a lot from what I could have at any regional.

One of the problems at Swift in my days was that as flight crew you were supposed to do everybody’s job:
Scheduling, planning, payroll, maintenance, loading and even refueling.

Call Scheduling - hey we can’t do that
Planning- hey that’s not going to work
Payroll - hey my paycheck is incorrect
MX - hey this deferral is timed out
Loading - we can’t take this we’re too heavy
Fuel guy - hey where’s my gas? “You’re not on my list nobody called”

Cause?
Incompetent people in the wrong places.
And I doubt any of that has changed.
That’s not an airline....

Best way to describe Swift?

Unfortunately it’s the case everywhere. Even at the regionals had scheduling that seems they hired at Burger King.

The payroll thing is a problem. No automation besides the scheduling software to cut and compare information. I suggested rainmaker to them so everyone can see their pay in real time.

Dispatch only a few of them are dispatchers for real since they’re flight followers in reality. So as the PIC you must also make sure your released legally and that all the ducks line up. It’s just not handed to you. It’s like 135!

MX for the most part is good, the FMEs work their butt off to keep these things flying with minimal sitting. That’s a miracle on its own. You don’t always go to hubs so you have to carry MELs maybe due to parts not being in the FAK, so parts chase you. It’s just the way it is.

There’s a lot that’s needs help and improvement, but when you’re the PIC I will say it’s extra work and it does make you a very organized and cautious pilot.

What? That’s a new rumor. Would love to see who started that one. Didn’t realize we had a Gulfstream training academy here.

No we contract pilots that swift hired via an expat firm temporarily to offset their shortage of pilots in Europe. They didn’t pay for any thing training they were already types with time in acft.

Check your source

Mexi confirmed it. See above posts. You have Non US pilots, flying your aircraft overseas. They are through a subcontractor who gets people to do P2F. It’s a well known scheme for airlines like Ryanair, EasyJet and Pegasus. You have contractor Captains and instructors, training “cadets” who paid for the “opportunity”.

FR is no longer a P2F operator for a cadets. Not a bad opportunity for a non type rated low time pilot (< 500 TT).

€5,000 is is a far cry for the cost of a full type rating course in the EU. The cost of the ATP CTP course in the US is running about $5,000 alone.

Uh no. All these contract pilots already have experience and typed in the acft. Most have been flying in Asia. Some are Copa airlines and some Middle East. Not sure what program you’re referring to because that’s not what Brookfield the contract company is doing for swift on the contractor side.

We don’t have cadets...... check your info. If they were cadets they would not be allowed to fly because you need an FAA ATP which requires 1500TT anyway. We don’t even allow restricted ATP pilots to work here. Check your source. I’m doing OEs and have checked out a lot of these guys. So your info not correct

4runner 06-27-2019 05:34 PM

So let me get this straight, you’re staffing your Merikan registered aircraft with Non Merikan pilots, through a contract agency? Then you’re doing OE on these folks, who don’t have US passports or green cards. Then you’re bypassing your own staff and crewing your aircraft with contractors. Then you’re not upgrading FO’s and using foreign pilots to fly your airplanes while they’re overseas. Then you’re defending this position? Excuse me, clarifying this position. Nothing to see here! Keep up the good work!

We don’t have enough staff to run the contract. Even if every pilot volunteered to come to Europe we would be short over 20 pilots to keep the airline running. No one has been bypassed. These are not seniority list pilots. Come October they’re gone. Some are us citizens and have been expats most of their career.

They have FAAtype ratings. The airline cannot run without pilots. I don’t like it but it’s what they found to fix a short term problem. We’re below on our hiring numbers. It’s so this or park planes and furlough people. You have to think about the business sense. No money means no jobs.

Hey Swift isn’t reinventing the wheel here this type arrangement has been done on and off for years . As long as they don’t fly in the USA they don’t need a green card or visa.. You or I may not like it but it’s legal.
