Atlas CVG 76

Hello all,

Long time listener, first time caller. Mil guy considering the next step.

I've read a lot recently about QOL issues at Atlas. Got it. I've also seen some small exceptions, like living near CVG and flying the 76.

My family is in the CVG area and we'd like to move back there anyway. Is this still a terrible idea?

Thanks in advance for enduring my new-guy question.

CVG lines are about a week to 9 days on and a week off. If you live in CVG, reserve would work well for you. That said, Kalitta and all the other carriers would pay you more and you'd have essentially the same QOL.

I would have to agree. Kalitta is more stable, more predictable upgrades and much more $$$. Good luck with your choice and future career.

Are you going to the Atlas Air open house in Miami? If so, do you have any info you can share about the event? I've tried the hiring forums with no luck so far.

You might have better luck asking a recruiter about an event held by recruiters rather than asking currently employed pilots.

Yes, terrible idea, especially with so many choices, even in the ACMI world.

Are you retiring mil? Have your ATP now? I’m retired USAF, just trying to gauge your options blind. I’m assuming if you are thinking AAWW, then you have ATP now. Otherwise you’ll probably need to get it via a regional, in which case PSA has a CVG base.

If CVG basing is your goal & you already have ATP, & consider G4, and there is talk of an F9 base coming later this year.

Good luck!

You lose all credibility when you post something like that. A privately owned company, with very few long term contracts, own by a older man in poor health is not more stable than a publicly traded company with long term contracts.

Now that's just funny. So a privately owned company with by all reliable accounts minimal debt, performs most of its MX functions in house, is expanding types operated, performs reliably for its customers, recruits and retains it pilots.....blah blah is LESS stable than a debt loaded, in crisis, vulnerable publicly traded, oh did I mention debt loaded, entity that answers to the men in suits on Wall Street who don't care about your shiny jet or pressed uniform shirt. It's all about the stock price that can collapse for a variety of reasons. We will see when the shoe drops on AAWW because it will in one way or another. If 5Y have a bad wreck or lose a high profile contract its game over. Connie will adjust and carry on as he has in the past and as to a successorship plan, you can bet there is one in place that will serve them well. But that's just my incredible opinion.

Other folks mx as well...and they pay better. I’ve never been furloughed by a privately held company either. I’ve also been offered cash in addition to contract pay from “flexible” travel and scheduling departments.
