I’m not sure the reason, but heard talk of ground school being held in Philadelphia. Should happen soon. We only have around 40 pilots on the last roster published yesterday, definitely more short Captain’s, so I’d expect hiring in that area for foreseeable future.

Yes everyone has seen the Points Guy article here at Eastern. There are pros and cons to everything. I’m happy to answer questions on Eastern. For me Eastern works at the moment. I have home basing, salary now pretty good and management has been flexible with me or put me on trips I wanted or let me have off when I needed. I could feel different in a year from now or be looking for another opportunity.

We evidently received a large investment, so let’s see how that’s spent/invested in the company.

Charter is still a large part of the business plan and we do have authority to operate freighters as 21Air was on our certificate at one point till they got their own certificate. More scheduled routes to be announced soon and I’ll hold back that info as JetBlue seems to announce shortly thereafter.

Yes the $5/hr difference is first year FO only, after that it’s $10/hr.

Any info on the hiring? Are they getting folks into classes?

I've been flying to China for the past 13 years, no one has ever even been impolite.
Don't get me wrong, Eastern 3.0 is definitely a gamble, they have their work cut out for them to try to compete in the market today but I don't think you will find anyone throwing rocks at you in Shanghai because you are an american.
Omni, in addition to having a union, is a DOD contractor not a public passenger airline. They fly troops into US bases. Apples & Oranges

Default Age limit

I gather because they are switching to a scheduled service there is a upper age limit on pilots.

The age limit applies to all 121 carriers, even the supplemental charter ones

Default Rigs?

Smoothlanding, thanks for the info! How much flying do you typically do in a month? Are there any kind of trip rigs or Duty rigs that contribute to meeting your 70 hour minimum? It looks like your scheduled service is all afternoon and evening. Do you do much back of the clock flying?

From what I know, probably 30-50hrs a month, it’s been seasonal, company evolving, should be very busy by summer. Yes some of the flights backside IE depart midnight land 7am. Scheduled only about 35% of business plan rest charter. It’ll be hard to break 70 on your 18 days on as based on block time. After 18 consecutive days on its $200/day plus min 4hrs or block if better. Sometimes they offer more $ on days off but depends as right now we properly staffed for the flying we have.

Eastern Instructors at Boeing or Pan Am. No AQP. FAA observes your checkride.

thats not a good sign if they’re deciding to be sitting in on all rides... sketchy past ?? What prompted the close supervision?
