Yeah, it was a great job by all putting it all together.

They did this because it benefited everybody, nothing more. They certainly didn't have to, or even need to do it. Nobody was forced to take a leave. I honestly hope they offer the paid leaves again in the future when it benefits everybody. Late November, December and January are usually slower months; I'd love paid leave over the holidays. They've laid the groundwork to be able to pull this LOA out, dust it off, and offer similar things in the future. That benefits us all.

The end result is 15 pilots were granted paid leave. Not everybody got all 3 months, or even 2 months; many were 1 month only. If you think savings of about $220k over 3 months was going to make/break the company then you're a fool.
As alluded to earlier time will tell. You said a plane was withdrawn and sent to get a hole cut, and your board indicated another one might go as well - that's parked or removed from service for Omni. You said yourself nobidy was forced - so we can't know how much "savings" they were hoping for. Based on your BoD's publcly released statements we know things are not that rosy and it would be an involutary furlough if you hadn't taken the government bailout money. Now to be clear, I don't think you guys are sinking (not yet anyway); just based on publicly available information I don't believe ATSG is trying to position Omni is a way which will take advantage of the market nor are they attempting to acquire new business. Granted this can all change on a whim, but based on what they said I don't think they're going to be needing more pilots. I think we can all agree that the guys in the hiring pool will not be getting a call for at least 3 months based on that leave award.

Yet it is a lot like other carriers in the ACMI segment and is the team leader for the "Patriot" team - other carriers in this segment of the industry have grown, tremendously in many cases; Swift of all places has grown to exceed the Omni fleet drastically (though I don't believe they do much military or international trips), Dynamic has grown from an airline that was having airplanes repossessed to being awarded a multi-hundred-million dollar DOD flying contract. Both of these are not publicly traded so it's hard to ascertain their exact profitability, but Omni (via ATSG) is publicly traded and, while profitable, it is clear (IN YOUR BOARDS OWN WORDS) that there is no intention to (currently) significantly grow Omni, and as I have said before - the actions they have undertaken as a point of FACT directly correlate to their publicly shared strategy and sentiments.

You literally joined APC on 5-19-21 and these Omni posts are your first and ONLY posts? Youíre a burner account. Whatís youíre real screen name?
Maybe because I only joined to share that ya'll were "furloughing" (yeah you have made abundantly clear that it's voluntary) then ya'll decided to, proverbially, claim "everything is fine", at any cost. AGAIN; this is not saying that Omni is a sinking ship - this all started with my statement that a guy in the pool will be waiting a while due to FACTS of what your airline has decided to do for the next few months. I find it hard to correlate voluntary leaves and fleet totals being reduced with someone being hired out of the pool next week.

at worst, itís positioning for contract bargaining, nothing more.
If it's that - then at least most jobs would be safe - but it also wouldn't give me high hopes for reaching a TA anytime soon - good luck on the process by the way.

go sell your doom and gloom elsewhere.... CommutAir or GoJets perhaps......

Do you have some kind of intent with all of these posts? Some beef with Omni? ATSG?

Probably one of the guys that's been fired this past year or two.
In any case, It's very clear he has an ax to grind.

As for his "others are growing fast" mantra..... that's the tortoise and the hare.

Omni isn't going to run a flight, waste a cycle on the hull, to make $10 bucks. They leave the low hanging fruit to the 36th street operators. Omni has a very successful business model, and unlike all the ones he mentioned, Omni has not gone bankrupt, nor ceased flying to rebrand, nor been run into the ground by poor management.

We went from 10 767's to 13 767's in about a year and a half. That's 30% growth on that fleet. One plane was an oddball and required extra training, OE, recurrent, and was a scheduling headache. They got rid of it. That still leaves us at 20% growth on that fleet over 3 years compared to where we were in 2018.

Cargo did well during covid because the world ran on home deliveries during the pandemic. While every other PAX airline parked planes, we continued to operate our entire fleet.... albeit at reduced schedules, but nothing parked.

I think the management here has done very well keeping the company operating under very difficult conditions without furloughing anybody.

I expect we will be hiring much sooner than people think. They let far fewer people take paid leave than anybody expected, and very few got all three months. The handwriting is on the wall that they think the flying is coming back in a more V shaped recovery than the doom and gloomers predicted.

Not really, just started with a simple statement and blew up into this when some guys got super defensive about inconvenient facts.

I can see the chip on your shoulder from my house. Did you know you're not a living embodiment of your airline? The facts I have stated; such as not hiring for at least three months, "on the record statements" by your board, as well as strategic benefits and drawbacks are not something which should be making you so defensive; unless you're trying to skew them.

Anyway, I finally figured out how to turn off email notifications; therefore won't really be tempted to waste any more time arguing with Chip Block over here (Chip that's your cue for some kind of "didn't want you here anyway" statement). Peace.

I think 4dalulz is that street Captain that is always talking about the sky falling. He was at a large cargo carrier before Omni. Either that or heís the guy that speaks English as his third language and decided to fly at 10000í going across the pacific.

The "I just wandered in here" innocence abused act is pretty hysterical since he's literally never posted outside of this thread.

Omni Air is purchasing American, Delta, and United. They will operate all four as a single entity. Remember, you heard the news here, first.
