Great place to work, but not for the faint of heart who want to retire.

Anyway, if the match listed on APC is accurate it would indicate a guy who were to be hired at 30 and stay until retirement would have a minimum of 2.3 million dollars if he maxed out his contributions the entire time (averaged returned for 35 years, assuming no economic "resets" etc.) - even adjusted for inflation, surely that's enough to retire on. Unless you have expensive addictions like airplanes or boats.

Do they do adequate training for oceanic crossings? Or do you get 1 and are expected to be capable in all the procedures??! Are non-IOE captains helpful and forthcoming with such things or impatient if someone hasn’t grasped it all in one training flight??

Thanks for the information. Doesn’t sound perfect but better than nothing.

What percentage of the bid pack is split lines vs. 16 continuous days on 767? 777?
What seniority does it take to hold them?
…and, I’m sure I’m going to get yelled at because this is somewhere in this thread but I can’t find it, how many days in a row on a trip is then typical on the split lines?
Thank you

You get some Oceanic training in ground school. You get an ETOPS oriented LOFT with some type of emergency and diversion. You get training on OE and will likely do a NORPAC and/or a NAT (the procedures are now the same for diversions on both). More importantly, the Captains here share their knowledge freely, and most seem to very much enjoy helping prepare you to move to the left seat. There are job aids they'll hand out in ground, and are available in our manuals, that you can print out and carry with you as memory joggers until you've got it down.
As per above, it's a really fun job, and a pretty good "atmosphere" in which to work. They just need a more rational road to retirement. Maybe that will come in time. But if you're just viewing it as a a place to go get some heavy/international time, I don't think there's a better place to be. Compared to WGA, Kalitta, or maybe even Atlas, it's like a permanent vacation in terms of the pace of work. VERY few min rest overnights at Omni (or at least there weren't when I was there.), and a fair number of pretty fun overnights with cool people.
I'd do it again.

All of this. The crews are great (if you can put up with some standard political-talk, it's pretty mild, in general). Everyone wants for you to succeed, esp. the training department and the IOE C/As. You'll be competent-enough at all of the Class 2/International/Etc. to not feel out of your depth when you hit the line.

It is a good place to get international experience, and experience thinking on your toes and learning how to be dynamic enough to roll with the ups and downs of each trip. You won't build time here. If you fly a lot you'll do 500 a year. Someone might have another thought on this. The min rest thing has been hitting us more and more. Were short handed like everyone else. Also, Covid is still a pain in the ass for certain operations. If deadheading around the pacific it'll be in the back of a company plane that'll likely be full of passengers. That situation is less than stellar. And I'm sure some fatigue calls a lot of complaining is coming from that, so it's not something the company want's to continue.

The splits vary from 8/8 to 3/13 with the 1 override day thrown in at the front or back someplace. The 3/13 would probably work well for somebody with one that ended with 3-10 days the previous month.
