According to the Omni guys there are 40-some in the pool. Classes are 10-12 each. We are allowed one bypass of training. No word on what plane we will be offered or exactly when. If things fall apart between now and then, I still have my crappy RJ job.
From a business standpoint there is no point in training folks only to pay them to sit at home getting paid for doing nothing while they wait for IOE. I would not have minded that, but it does make sense.

They said the same thing during a new hire class 3 years ago.
I apologize for being negative, but please go into this job with your eyes wide open.
Ask yourself this....
If you ran Omni and wanted to attract the best newhires, would you promise to pay more this summer or would you increase the pay prior to interviews a mere 3 months before that time?
Now let's say you had every intention of dragging out negotiations as long as possible to save money. If that was the case you'd hire right now and have a promise of negotiations soon. Much like you did repeatedly in the past.

Be it pay, anticipated contract, fleet plans, new bases,etc., never, ever take a job based on what you're told is about to change. Always base your decision on the current situation. You should apply this advice whether it is FedEx or Delta all the way to Commutair or a mom and pop 135 Navajo job.

Well, let me put it this way: The pay situation will undoubtedly change at some point in the future. How long in the future is anyone's guess. That said, I'd still recommend Omni to someone looking at moving out of RJs into bigger equipment. You'll log heavy jet, international (I've been to 4 countries in the past 4 days, not including the US), oceanic, ETOPS, glass/FMS experience. Should you decide to move on to a major airline in the future, your resume will most certainly stand out among those with thousands of hours of domestic RJ experience.
YMMV of course, but this flying is excellent experience.
