Any New News on Kalitta Air Hiring?

Any New News On Kalitta Air Hiring?

Heard thru a friend that a Staffing Meeting was to occur this month with regard to staffing needs, and depending on the outcome of that meeting,
would determine if Resume's would be accepted and interviews would resume in April......

Or things would remain the same...and no resumes would be accepted or interviews be conducted until maybe the 3rd quarter of 2012...

Any Kalitta Air Crewmembers have any intel?

Have Any Pending Contracts been secured?

Any new DOD Opportunities come available?

I was...like many others.....was getting ready for interview in January 2012 when everything just stopped...It was disappointing....but..I'm still holding out hope that the "Window" will reopen...

Any chance of that happening before October 2012?

which airline are you referring to?

kalitta charters is hiring. like falcon and lear FO's. though it's pretty much all by word of mouth and running into a guy at some small airport in the middle of the night and giving him your resume. good company though, people like it there.

Haven't heard anything from YIP on when they might start again.

myoface 03-26-2012 08:11 PM

Well we got Captains flying in the right seat on overtime, so we must be short pilots!

ThrustMonkey 03-26-2012 08:41 PM

Chatted with CP on Saturday. Said right now its looking like Q3 until hiring ramps up again.

Sounds like they will keep swimming until later this year unless things change.

Gsxrguy750 03-28-2012 09:23 AM

My letter said that I was in the pool for 6 months. 6 months will be up around June. Hope I don't have to start the whole process over again if it's later then that.

crewman 03-28-2012 10:41 AM

I never got a letter? What did the letter say?

What letter are you talking about and when did you receive it? I too never received anything. I sure hope we don't get flushed from the pool. That would suck and I'll really regret not rolling the dice and showing up for class in January.

Gsxrguy750 03-28-2012 12:57 PM

I am assuming you guys were scheduled for the class that got canceled. I was never scheduled for a class date so instead of getting a call I got a pool letter in the mail back in Dec.

It reads "Congratulations on successfully completing the interview process. You have been placed into the pilot hiring pool for Kalitta Air for a six month period. Once you have been selected from the pool you will be given a class date and sent a pre-employment package. If you have not been contacted for a class date within the six months, you will need to reapply........."

Maybe you guys are in the pool indefinitely since I am assuming you were already scheduled a class, I don't know. Good luck!

HercDriver130 03-28-2012 04:42 PM

I would be REAL surprised if they held any new hire classes in June or before....

myoface 03-28-2012 07:47 PM

Judging by the fact that it is nearly April and there has not been a vacancy bid posted I would say that is a safe bet. Typically a vacancy bid is open for about a month and then the class date is a month after that. (give or take a week or two)

Iron Maiden 12-04-2014 07:22 PM

I saw that Kalitta will be at the Aerocrew Solutions job fair in DFW on 1/30/15. Will the start hiring again and will the minimums come down? I have a relative that is a pilot for them, but he doesn't know what's going on. I'd like to go fly for them.

Skyhawk92 12-05-2014 03:18 PM

They just ran a class at the end of 2014, and will be hiring in the new year as you said for a class (possibly in February or March? Dunno). I heard from a good friend who is employed with them that the minimums are down to around 1,200 or lower if you have an internal recommendation. Was told a few of the new pilots got hired with 950 and 1100 hours (with internal recommendations).

Good luck to you, I will be applying myself.

How are they getting hired with 950 hours? Connie is still 121 or did I miss something.

Ha ha no worries... I was confused. Hopefully they give you a call.

HercDriver130 12-07-2014 07:15 PM

yea... must be charters on the lear or falcon... no body hired here in this last few classes with less than probably 5000 hours for Kalitta Air... can't really speak to charters or charters II

The last class seems even more so that most guys that were hired were already typed, I.e. World and evergreen folks and even the high / higher time people were given less consideration.

lionflyer 12-09-2014 06:59 AM

Here's the latest as far as I know:

2 classics are getting parked at the end of the year which will leave 4 total still flying. I don't think they will displace guys because they were flying 6 with about 25 crews. If they do, it will be minimal.

2 400's are coming by spring. They are going to have to hire I think. Even with the last 2 classes, we are still short pilots. A lot of guys are here are shooting for the legacies and the attrition is picking up.

longhauler 12-09-2014 01:11 PM

How is the training? I have heard a higher than normal failure rate?

Everybody in the last class had >5000 hours. Only one guy had a previous 747 type, but just about everyone had done ACMI flying before. (All except 2)

727C47 12-11-2014 02:05 AM

Don't get spooked by rumors about the training in my 400 transition class, and in the others in my timeframe early '13 everybody got through, there are some guys who are afraid of glass, and that is a shame because the 400 is one of the most pilot friendly airplanes I have ever flown, the Classic had a much higher workload even with an FE behind you.

727C47 12-11-2014 02:07 AM

Disclaimer I'm not with Connie anymore returning to a previous employer but I enjoyed my time there immensely, great guys and girls, great jet, I hope they get the great CBA they deserve.

longhauler 12-13-2014 12:10 PM

Friend texted me that one busted out of November class. He said that this was the most ridiculous training program he has ever partaken in 25 plus years of aviation. Wonder what has changed since 2013?

727C47 12-13-2014 01:49 PM

I dont know, and I'm sorry to hear that

For what it's worth, everyone in that class that took the checkride passed it. One guy quit before the sim started.
