Maybe they plan on doing it with two certificates. You do have the most restrictive rules you said it " Company has said it will probably end up with whatever your first flight of a trip is, is what you will fly for the whole pattern." That might work if the pattern started out under 117.
Can you explain how you think it would work if the pattern started as cargo, then ended up as passenger?
Quotes from understanding 117 web page that was set up :
"This rule allows all-cargo operations to voluntarily determine, as part of their collective bargaining and business decisions, whether they wish to operate under part 117.
In order to prevent manipulation of this voluntary provision, certificate holders who wish to operate their all cargo operations under part 117 cannot pick and choose specific flights to operate under this rule."
Source is in Purchase NY

I definitely don't think this is justifiable or right. But then again the whole cut-out stinks. We should all people and fatigue affects us all. Just passing along the info.

By this point, it is no secret that Atlas wants a 767 minimum fleet size of 20 aircraft. Atlas approached Global about purchasing North American when North American went into bankruptcy. Global wanted to only sell it as a package deal with World. Atlas only wanted the 767s and not the MD-11s, the deal fell apart. It would not suprise me at all if talks have resumed. Anything is possible for the right price.
With all that said, these rumors of Atlas buying a certain competitor always seem to pop up when things are looking bleak at a company. We were also rumored to be buying Southern at one time. The rumor was so strong that our unions met to discuss possible integration scenarios.
Didn't World just lose a bunch of flying with the military that is going to force more furloughs and parking more airplanes? I have heard a fleet of 5 at World and 5 at North American, maybe Global wants out, but why go through bankruptcy then unless that is to shed costs for a higher sale price.
Who knows, is this Purchase, New York source a first hand source or a friend of a friend, etc?

Do you have an actual source, or is it just hearsay and trying to connect dots?

Not true. Atlas is not even a contender anymore. Only rumor I would believe is World is going out of business. There is no market for their business model.

Actual source is good. It's not the van drivers brother in Bacu's cousin who lived in Brooklyn 10 years ago friend. AAWW is public, the people who are technically in the know won't say anything. But like I said it's the rumor floating around. It may or may not be true. According to some people at AAWW it's true. Next time you see a MX guy ask if they know about any new 767s.
Anyone notice atlas is no longer accepting resumes but it's press release says it's growing the 76 fleet.

Johnny - everyone lost the Military cargo flying. That's mostly what World did. So they have a huge problem. According to Flynn Atlas had 4 aircraft deticated to Military cargo. Flynn, the GLobal CEO and I believe the World Union all tried a joint effort to persuade the Mililtary to change its mind. Which did not work.
