I know a guy who recently got hired at Atlas without a degree. No part 121 time either. Mostly fractional and part 135 cargo experience.

Not very common but it has happened. There are also guys that are military / air force academy c17 career guys who can't get hired. You never know. Most guys have a degree but how are you at flying long haul means more than that I think. If you are a d$%& then they figure it it out pretty quick. This isn't a regular airline job and aren't looking for the regular shmo. It takes a special breed to love this life style and the powers that be have a gift on picking those that have the wander lust.

Bwahaha, but did you meet megan fox's minimum qualifications? ;)
I get your point but then why post 2000tt and 500 turbine as the minimums if you have no intention of going for that? Anyone new hired or interviewed there recently, what is the realistic average experience bracket for new hires? Answers without sarcasem please. |
that is not a true statement with Atlas.

So what is it that the "powers that be" are looking for? I have the degree, I desire the lifestyle, and exceed the minimums, have for the entire 4 years that I have been applying and attending job fairs, and yet I can't get a call. Even with internals...I understand, that there are a multitude of guys from World, Evergreen and North American with the heavy/over water and international experience, I just wonder why. I will keep trying and pressing, just curious...

but the schedule will be brutal Compared to "X", the schedule may be brutal. Compared to "Y", the schedule may be cake. I was at a regional. I get more days off at Atlas. In fact, the Atlas schedule is the best schedule that I have ever had in any of the four careers that i have had, and the best of any of the multiple jobs that I have had. I do understand that the schedule is not for everyone. If a four day trip is the max that you want to do, do not come to Atlas. God Bless and Namaste! PS-I would recommend holding out for much better vs. jumping ship for marginally better. The Pilot Shortage will only get worse and worse in the near-to-mid future. |
I think that's competitive. Beware though... If you don't have PIC time when you come it may be a while before you get it. I'm guessing that right now it'd be a 7 or 8 year upgrade for you. I'd get your PIC time before you make the jump but sometimes I wonder if Atlas likes low PIC guys because it makes it more difficult to jump when Delta comes calling...

All atlas is looking for is for people that are willing to lean forward and complete the mission.
