No other contracts set in stone as far as I know, but then what do I know, I am just a line pilot. But we have done some scheduled runs for a Canadian vacation airline. We also flew some of the collage football teams and have been approached by other companies to fly some of their routes. Since it is more profitable to fly for the DOD I imagine that we will probably continue to do so with at least 2 airplanes. Who knows what the other 2 airplanes will be flying, your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks for the help!

Garuda 01-28-2015 03:13 PM

Any news regarding class dates??

LeadBottom 01-29-2015 05:36 AM

I heard there is a Feb. class that is already full, and another one being planned for March.

Garuda 01-29-2015 01:47 PM

B744 class or B75??

LeadBottom 01-29-2015 06:21 PM

Not sure about Feb. March should be 75.

ContactApproach 02-07-2015 01:18 PM

Any recent interviews? I might be interviewing next week. Looking for any info I can get!
Thanks guys and gals.

ContactApproach 02-12-2015 02:57 PM

Conducted the interview yesterday, fingers crossed.

LeadBottom 02-13-2015 08:22 PM

Got the email today I'm hired into the pool. No class yet. Anyone else notified?

Seems like Leadbottom and myself are the only ones swimming. Any other recent new hires at N8? Looking for updated info.

JeffA 02-25-2015 07:15 PM

Friend of mine interviewed and got the nod last week. I think he said late March or April for the class date.

Did he mention that it was expressed specifically in an email? I was told from National that they would be pulling from the pool for classes that start at the beginning of March, April or May. Nothing since then.

JeffA 02-26-2015 07:52 AM

Nothing specific as far as class dates. With 2 more airplanes coming on line in May I can't see them waiting much further past April to get these classes going.

Nick5600 03-02-2015 07:57 AM

What are the times, and types of the gentlemen who got the nod? Also did you have an internal rec.?

Congrats, I haven't heard anything back yet myself, but I don't have any TPIC either. Are you currently an RJ Captain?

I interviewed about a month ago and was offered a class date A few days later. Unfortunately still no word when that will officially happen. I've heard April 1st , but I doubt it. They are running three classes with 6-8 people in the Each month for the next 3 months. No I'm corporate. No 121 experience.

Braniff DC8 03-03-2015 07:43 PM

Um

Low pay, traveling abroad in economy, Afghanistan, CH11 and the report on Bagram is not out but its not good in the twittesphere, might be good reasons to think twice.

One recently quit in training and some of the people they are getting are having trouble in training including an already 747 experienced guy.

I honestly would think hard before going to National. Sorry, i hope not to offend but companies like National, Kalitta, Southern and Skylease, are not good ops.

Rumor has it that the other MD11 op (Nordic/World jet something) are getting 400s.

HercDriver130 03-03-2015 09:43 PM

Braniff.... Kalitta is a lot of things but to compare them to Skylease... get a grip

The word is they are getting two BCF's.

The two that Atlas was using part time.

Soooo...the guys trying to make a living at the 6 airlines mentioned are what exactly? Is jerking gear at Atlas worthy enough, ABX then? Perhaps not when UPS or better still FDX is the comp. Judging by the abundance of alarming posts out of that group these days, might we suspect flying freight as a career choice is questionable all together? Well here we are no apologies. If National is offering you a seat, you've done your homework and it is something that fits for you in the present, go for it. You'll look a lot stronger to the resume sifters up the chain having that "bad op" on yours.

Well said sir. However I'd add one additional thought.... It's easier to get a job whilst currently employed than pounding the Tarmac.

Thanks for that. It's refreshing to see someone positive for once in this industry. For me, It will work out great. Thanks for not being a naysayer.

K4 has its issues but it's a good op, stick to what you know Braniff, the K4 guys and girls are going to UPS, AA,Alaska, Delta, United, and Netjets, some of the best people and pilots I have had the pleasure to share a cockpit with, I'm proud to be an alumni.

727C47 03-08-2015 03:21 PM

And I was proud to support our boys and girls in Afghanistan

The owner is none other than James Neff of Southern fame. He has owned two BCF's and has been leasing them where he could. He has MD11's from Nordic one from China Eastern sitting in KOSC and then the two BCF's that he has not been able to lease. I believe Oscoda is doing the MX for Mr. Neff.

Any updates on class dates for new hires?

Awi8tr 03-16-2015 06:23 AM

It looks like the 757 class is postponed for now, since there seems to be some issues with the 2 new airplanes, either maintenance or certification related. In the mean time the company welcomed their new president, who has a lot of civilian airline experience under his belt and used to be a Chief Pilot at Northwest Airlines at one point. Hopefully this change will keep us out of Afghanistan and have us fly more charters in the more friendly part of the world. We are also currently bidding to fly the basketball teams for March Madness. Hopefully we will resume hiring in the near future.

Just as a FYI those charters are typically VERY low yield as they have many bidders and lower budgets.

Awi8tr 03-18-2015 08:19 AM

It really shouldn't matter if they are low yield! At this stage, any yield is better than NO yield, which unfortunately seems to be the current strategy.

JeffA 03-19-2015 09:29 AM

I agree. Let's get to flying already. Just came from the sim, had to take a PC to reset my hour requirement and get current.

AgCat 03-19-2015 08:55 PM

Sounds as if the 777 is not going to be available for a while, if at all. Too bad, the flying is pretty good.

Natca 05-04-2015 06:05 PM

Any current interview gouge?

Natca 05-15-2015 12:32 PM

Hiring stopped due to a schedule change, any idea what happened?

ironpony 07-02-2015 06:57 AM

2 of the 757s the recently acquired were returned. Looking for new ones and a 747 nose loader.

Western Global got those birds

That makes sense, one of Neff's many companies owns them. He will now lease them to himself at Western Global????

Not a good setup for long term operations. The only winner in this scheme is Neff.

JeffA 07-28-2015 12:03 PM

New hire class of 4 for the 747 started this week for what it's worth.

CRJ700Master 08-24-2015 03:18 PM

Does National hire Regional guys or is it just current and qualified types?
